They told my parents I’d be dead or institutionalized by the time I was 21…well, I’m now 45 years old. I may be living with severe mental illness and had to have lowered my expectations a lot, but considering what they said my prognosis is good.

I agree. Life can change on a dime and not only in a bad way. People talk about second chances. I’m on my millionth chance and not planning on giving up anytime soon.

I am behaving normal in my life with all symptoms of schizophernia in my mind. But symptoms are controllable and additionally taking medication for better life, also for risks.

I totally support the theme of this thread!

Life isn’t patient with anyone… the schizophrenic’s brain isn’t patient back.

Keep positive, practice acceptance… learn patience when all else fails.

Don’t measure yourself against anyone else. It’s not a race to the finish for most and taking your time to get to a good place is necessary and worthwhile.

Be your own friend. Don’t blame yourself for things out of your control and one of them is mental illness.

Be your own champion. You can’t change the world unless in your little sphere if your well enough, but otherwise work for your best function and life.

It’s not easy but it’s doable. One little baby step at a time!

Yes! You can. ( And if you know my work then start exercising regularly people! )

I hope to get somewhat better I can only hope and work at it.

Yes, I’ve been there many times as I’ve told you before. Wow, I made myself so miserable. I still do to a degree. Every day is a new day, a chance to change things, to find new ways to solve problems. My dad told me life is about solving problems. And being born in 1930, he knew a little bit about life.
