What is the real difference between Delusional Disorder and Schizophrenia?
The way I see it, I just see psychosis as a very serious mental mental illness in general.

Sounds like a great question to ask your doctor the next time you see him or her.
I saw that video, I all ask my psychiatrist as well, to get a more clear explanation.
I’d say it’s still schizophrenia, but what do I know?
or schizoaffective.
I think I have that,
since all the paranoid stuff is real.
Delusional disorder has not bizarre delusions like schizophrenia
what do you mean by bizarre?
That an alien has taken the organs of your body,
for example.
A delusional disorder has feasible delusions,
like paranoia. Bizarre delusions are sz.
hmmm, I’ve never had that thought about aliens,
even when I had psychosis.
I did have thoughts though that I was instructed to die a martyr’s death.
I had read that bizarre delusions are sz.
Impossible ideas.
If you think that someone is watching you,
or that your husband is cheating on you,
and if you have no other psychotic symptoms,
it’s delusional disorder
what you listed, in today’s world, that could anybody or everybody.
have you read or seen Othello? what would you say he had? I don’t think anything. tragedy though.
Yes, i had read Othello.
What’s his diagnosis?
Shakespeare never told us, probably nothing,
but not sure what would have happened to a man at that time,
for killing his wife.
he may have just put her dead body under the floorboards,
or cellar.
Delusional disorder the symptoms are only delusions
Schizophrenia the symptoms are not only possible delusions but hallucinations, negative symptoms, muddled thinking, lack of self care, disorganised behaviour etc
Sz is much more than just delusions
I don’t exactly find the distinction very helpful, because I had delusions for ten years and other delusions explained by neurodevelopental disorder, and I fit some elements for Schizophrenia, more specifically Schizoaffective Disorder, because I have history of mania.
Delusions without hallucinations. I was diagnosed with delusional disorder before schizophrenia
I was diagnosed with schizophrenia as well, despite not having any positive symptoms other than delusions. I guess either my delusions were considered “bizarre” enough or psychiatrist diagnosing me noticed some negative symptoms.
It’s not helpful, because you shouldn’t need to have bizzare delusions to have Schizophrenia.
It doesn’t sound scientific.
