Delusional disorder

I was first diagnosed with delusional disorder. I didn’t hear voices but one day I thought the people in the TV were mocking me. I had my beliefs for about 2 years:/
What is the difference between delusional disorder and schizophrenia?

I was diagnosed with delusional disorder before schizophrenia. The difference is no hallucinations or prominent negative symptoms.

But now I have all of the above. Hopefully you don’t get worse.

Delusional disorder typically appears in middle age and up, does not include bizarre delusions (no aliens/spirits/things that are entirely impossible), and typically isn’t disabling. Think old person leaving the windows open because they think there is a gas leak in their house even though it has repeatedly been proven there is no leak.

I wanted to add that my psychologist has wondered if I have delusional disorder as I don’t have hallucinations or negative symptoms. But because of my age and somewhat bizarre delusions we just decided I have mild schizophrenia.
