Will our posthuman selves have spiritual needs?

Particularly, if we attain immortality by technological means.

you may have missed a good discussion I started on a class I took over subjective, or objective psychology,
or that everything that exists actually has a mind,
even the carpet.
If they will create artificial means, especially applied to the brain,
it is still a host body, unless they make in some kind of dish.
so if it’s still a human body, there would be being born, and that would mean, having a soul.

I’m thinking further on this,
creation in general,
matters not scope, or livlihood,
immortality in the end.

Immortality in the end indeed.

I’m not interested in immortality on earth. I figure “the next place” has something resembling it.

I would hate to outlive my loved ones also.

Well, in the transhumanist utopia just outlined immortality would be within everyone’s reach.

Haha “Transhumanist utopia”. I find that hilarious.

Sounds like hell to me. Makes me wonder why people reject simulation theory due to their own fears and prejudices.

What if we live in a simulation where all this stuff happened already? Why are we so self-centered and arrogant that we cannot accept that there are higher life-forms or aliens out there that have evolved far beyond us?

As a schizophrenic, immortality is the last thing I want. Who wants to be immortal forever with schizophrenia? What if they develop a punishment that keeps you in limbo or schizophrenic for eternity? What makes us think we are so special that we will be cured of this disease?

While I cannot confirm I’m a legit super soldier (I think I am) that is the very definition of transhumanism. I’ve never been in the military and I’m fat and weak, but I can tell you that this isn’t my first go-around and that I can transfer my consciousness like in “Altered Carbon.”

Personally, I think they put me in a computer simulation and gave me schizophrenia for eternity; the people with power and whom are in charge.

To answer your question, yes, some of us will need spiritual needs for various reasons. One of them being more advanced life forms out there including AI.

Personally, I’m more traditional and have a ton of experience living a near-infinite amount of past and different lives. I find the traditional values in my religion keep the bad people and bad entities away.

I expect SZ will be sorted out some time before immortality.

You’d have to give alternatives, as if that’s a choice too.

Not all people want peace I guess.

We’re also not going to have a choice over advanced tech.

Many will come around to it for various reasons.

Consciousness transfer might create an immortal copy of ourselves but we ourselves wouldn’t be immortal. The old philosophical problem of continuity of identity.
