No I do not think it is dangerous… im on and off there… almost every guy I have met that said they are in the military has been a catfish. I have one friend I met there we talk often but have not met… I have spoken to all sorts there… and have blocked a bunch of guys. Met a few guys in person… just haven’t met anyone who wants something serious.

I went on a date with some guy from OkCupid years ago. I remember that he was obsessed with his beard and overly concerned with splitting every and all costs entirely down the middle (we went to a few different places). I got the feeling he thought I was trying to rip him off for a free meal or a drink. It didn’t make a good impression, especially after I had to leave extra tips because he turned out to be a bit of a cheapskate in that area.

I’ve had better luck on dating apps focusing on a specific population, such as kink dating apps. There are faith based, sexual orientation based, hobby based, body size based, and just about any focus you could think of.
My luck has been on the smaller apps people are more legit. That’s not always true, and we should still do our best to vet an app and still use caution when talking to and meeting people from the internet.

They use other ppls photos, quotes from the internet, usually have no social media, unable to video chat for some weird reason or another… or can’t talk on the phone @SkinnyMe

Why do you think people even bother catfishing? Do they think it’s gonna work out in the end? Cuz it never does.
I guess maybe they get something out of what interaction they do have, emotionally.

I guess I’m more of a “you get this round, I’ll get that round” sort of person. I remember we had to walk some blocks looking for an ATM to get cash for a cover charge because the guy didn’t want to pay mine in exchange for a drink with my card at the bar because the cover charge cost a few dollars more. Geez Louise.
Some do it for fun. To get laughs… some try to scam people for money… on the catfish show on MTV, there are some who have really low self esteem…don’t think they will be accepted and stuff.

I saw the documentary that started that show, it was really sad. The woman catfishing him had a really tough life.
The show I’ve seen a few episodes of. I’d hate to think they do it for laughs.
