Who wants to Be Famous Any More?

When you look at what people are famous for you wonder why they bothered. Mass murderers, dictators, bad leaders, and infamous people are about as likely to make the list as generally good people. And even generally good people have their lives micro-examined to detect their flaws and mistakes and often a person who is great to some of us is evil to others. Why have a statue in your honor that the pigeons crap on? One problem many of us have is that we wanted to be better than we turned out, Well if you look around you many normies didn’t turn out so great either. So get your 15 minutes doing something stupid and quietly spend the rest of your lives doing something worthwhile. The least known leaders rule during times when things go right anyway because the news usually focuses on what went wrong.

I’d hate to be famous. People hating you because of the latest headline.

One of my nieces who just turned 14 wants to be a singer. I told her that being famous isn’t all glamorous.

OK. But there are always going to be people who want fortune and fame until the earth is obliterated by the sun in a billion years. Yes, many, many, people achieve fame only to find it unrewarding, and they miss being anonymous. But being famous has some real honest-to-goodness “perks” that are so good that it will keep people clawing to the top. Famous entertainers are treated special. More special than me, the janitor. One really cool perk about being famous is that often it opens the door to meeting other really famous people. I have a lot to say on this matter but I am kind of tired so I will stop. My last comment is that fame can open doors that the average bloke working 9:00–5:00 at the factory will never even get near.

Not famous. Anonymous but rich as hell. Money gives you leverage in the modern western world and I’d take that in a heartbeat!

There are pros and cons to being famous.

I would like to be famous if it was for something really beneficial to humanity. I would like to do some kind of great good during my lifetime.

I’ll collect $200 and take the fame.

Fame equals attention, something I avoid like shopping at Walmart.
Nothing worse than having folks attention on you, good pr bad, it’s all the same to me.

Money dont bring happiness. But money can buy it, you could say…

I hope my music one day makes me get respect and enough money to pay the bills. But I don’t care past that.

@wiligv I don’t need money, I need good cognitive and health parameters to live well.

I went through a five year period recently, when I had stars in my eyes. I wanted to be a famous composer. Anyway, that didn’t work out so, now, I’m just content to try to learn how to play piano for my own enjoyment and the enjoyment of those I know.

I’d love to be famous for making a cool, addictive educational game. Something that is as addictive as an MMORPG, but you actually learn curriculum-worthy skills from.
