I’m asking for my friend who has been recommended to take it.
He is not sure but he is morbidly obese.
If you have taken it, what kind of side effects did you experience and did it work for weight loss?
Thanks!

Why not take Wegovy or Zepbound @Zoe?
He said that the doctor recommended orlistats for him. He doesn’t know why.
There are a lot of stomach issues with taking orlistat
Lots of fatty stool and diarrhea
Yea that’s what my friend told me too. He’s okay with that. Cos it’s just until the weight is down.
And if u don’t eat fatty food, then there’s less risk of too much poo issues.
What are the risks with these medications?
I guess it’s worth a shot then
I still suggest he should consider one of the diabetes, weight loss injections
There are some risks with all medications
There are some gastrointestinal issues one could experience with the new injectables like diarrhea or constipation
But these side effects are usually minimal
Also he said that the weight loss jab has a very long waiting list here.
Your friend should be talking with his doctor if he has questions or concerns.
Gastroparesis and pancreatitis are the major complications with weight loss drugs. That is why I’m not on one. You weigh the risks. Number one thing doctors say with any weight loss med is that you still need to eat healthy and exercise while on these. Some people think the medication will fix everything and they continue to eat anything under the sun. Lifestyle changes are needed as well. I wish him the best for sure. It’s a difficult journey.
He obviously does that. He is waiting for his appointment
But nothing wrong with asking others about their experiences too.
Thanks. I’ll let him know of your well wishes.
Orlistat is a useful tool but there can be real GI issues if a person eats any fatty foods. But the studies show that the semaglutide and tirzepetide shots can be more effective over the long term. Still, either way there still need to be serious lifestyle changes or they won’t do much.
I just read your message to him.
He’s now thinking it’s better to try lifestyle changes alone for 3 to 4 months.
If nothing still changes.
Then he might consider orlistat as more motivation to lead that better lifestyle.
He said thanks.
There is this hush hush rumor that fatty foods are bad for us, but I don’t know who started that terrible rumor.
I would suggest going to a weigh loss clinic in his area. That way he can see a doctor and a dietician as he loses weight. Close monitoring is necessary when on a weight loss journey. You don’t want to use extreme diets or try meds without help. Best of luck for sure. Stay strong!
Yup, he does go to a weight loss clinic. They are the ones who are currently referring him to the GP for orlistat. He says lovely. Appreciates it.
It is indeed very hard for him but he’s trying.
Hey, that’s all you can do is try your best. There isn’t such a thing as failing in this kind of a journey. Yeah there will be setbacks. Focus on the two steps forward instead of the one step back though.
True talk. Yea it’s good to look at things positively if possible
