Who here craves sugar?

I have a terrible sweet tooth. I just ate a bowl of mashed up graham crackers with peanut butter and a ton of syrup on them. It’s bad. Who here craves sugar?

I know it’s not healthy but I do crave it. I get way too much of it because I drink a lot of soda. I dip strawberries in confectioner’s sugar sometimes. Sometimes I crave chocolate specifically though. Milk chocolate that is.

I drink sweet green tea.
It’s very hard to quit.
Every drink gives a hit of dopamine.

I guess. I used to avoid sugar before the illness but now I crave it.

I’m worried about diabetes.

Zyprexa used to make me crave sugar. I’m worried about diabetes too.

It’s funny.
Every bottle I finish I say now I’m going to drink only water.
Next thing I know I’m going to the store to get more.
Sugar is addictive.
Grocery stores are basically fda approved drug dealers.
Sugar, alcohol, Nicotine, carbohydrates, etc…
Just one big drug store.

I just realized that makes me a drug addict.
I can’t win.

I’m an oddball, because I go through short periods where I’ll have a major sweet tooth but it’s not a constant thing.

Lately I have been craving cream soda and root beer a lot.

I’m on a diet that allows high carbs, including sugar. The McDougall diet is low fat and low protein though, so it’s not like you’re allowed to binge on donuts and pizza (unless the pizza was a vegetarian, cheese-free one.)

Strangely enough, this diet can reverse diabetes. High blood sugar is from high fat intake, since the fat blocks the glucose uptake channels in the muscles. Without that fat, even high carbohydrate intake doesn’t raise blood sugar much.

Damn. Since dad stopped drinking alcohol he’s well into his sugar fix. There’s a bowl in our kitchen that is always full of lollies. He often buys donuts for morning tea! I don’t mind a bit of sugar but have enough in my diet these days to look for more.

The old boy does have a sugar problem!

I had profiteroles for breakfast :x

Very interesting.
I’ve been reading up on the Dr. McDougall website.
I think I’m going to try it.
Thanks for posting that. :+1:t2:

LCHF diet(keto diet) was developed first by Japanese doctor for “therapeutic meals” of diabetes. And it is now widely recommended by doctors. There are many styles of diet but I believe this one. Enough amount of fat is not actually harmful as expected if it is from green grass-fed cows. And fat intake with at least carbs decreases appetite including cravings for sugars. I believe good butter is more healthier than sugars.

I’m desperately addicted to sugar. It’s really bad. Chewing gum doesn’t really help, if I’m honest. I know it’s not “real” sugar.

Keto diet carries a high heart disease risk. It raises cholesterol to dangerous levels.

Makes you crabby as heck avoiding carbs the entire time too.

I read the anecdotes of people gorging on grass fed butter coming back from their blood tests with a warning to change their diets.

I did keto and had gallbladder attacks.
Not fun.

Maybe, people get crabby and it is often called keto flu, temporary symptoms. Maybe I should more research about it but high stress and lifestyle are more influential factors for increasing high cholesterol. :slightly_smiling_face:

I can’t say I crave suger. I have to have my coffee sweetened , though I usually use sweeteners for that.
I was buying a box of two cream apple turnovers every shopping day, but ditched doing so quite a few weeks ago along with crisps and dips.

I don’t notice I’ve lost weight but my stepdaughter says I have. I would say I’m more of a savoury/salty type though.

I drink a lot of soda, but I can go weeks without when I need too.
