Who are you

Does anyone here know who they are apart from the culture? Like you as a human being. Regardless of the time and place you now reside and where you lived in the world.

It’s possible to find out with certain meditative states, but it is very difficult not to be influenced by culture at least to some degree

Ive always felt like an outcast from the culture i grew up in. And yeah ive struggled a lot with finding a sense of identity. But i like to think that we are all originally pure consciousness. Before thoughts and content took centre stage in our lives. I dont think we are what we think. We are so much more than that. We are windows for the universe to view itself and interact with it.
Does any of that make sense or do i sound like a raving madman? Haha

Makes total sense and you don’t sound crazy. I’ve been getting in to zen recently and there’s that old koan “show me your true face before your parents were born”. Kind of gets to what you’re referring to. But i think referring to us as windows for the universe kind of ties us up into a sense of duality, as if there is something other than the universe. I think I know what you mean though, that we are expressions of the universe and life contemplating itself.

I think I’m a deep thinker. I spend a lot of time just thinking about things. I’m caring. I’m meant to be alone. I’m a puppy father. I’m schizophrenic. I’m a bunch of things melded into one being. Deep realization. I meditate daily.

I’m just this guy with a camera and a good selection of coffee flavourings.

Im neo. Neither one nor many. A melding of things and yet a singularity. One face and yet two faces and yet three faces and yet four, five, six, seven and yet more. A confusion but still a clarity. A nothing and an everything. Everchanging but solid and unmoving. That’s part of what a neo is.
