So what’s the difference? Both have psychosis, hear voices perhaps feel bad, small, powerless, and need anti-psychotics.
Some people who have schizophrenia don’t have negative symptoms and don’t feel depressed.
Psychotic depression is also known as major depressive disorder with psychotic symptoms.
Schizophrenia imo has a much more complex symptom set.
Even though both require APs, treatment approach would be different for either diagnosis.
I have negative symptoms, but don’t have depression.
with psychotic depression you can get psychotic symptoms when you feel depressed. With sz you get psychotic without the depression also.
I think the hallucinations and delusions arent as bizzare as sz, and are usually tied to pessimistic and self defeating types of hallucinations/delusions
