Maybe you don’t need meds anymore then? I remember that biggest relapse possibility is in the first five years.

Please try not suggest to others to go off their meds. Most of the time people are doing well because they are on medication. Only some may try going off particular meds but it’s unusual and only done under close watch by a medical team.

Sorry, I am probably selfish, because in my case we will soon try to stop meds,
I don’t know many people, in fact none in real life with Sz, so from what I read I made this conclusion  ((that after 5 years its possible))
Sorry again.

Actually, now that I think about it, when I was hospitalized for the last time in 2015 it was for being suicidal because my mom died. I wasn’t psychotic. So I haven’t been psychotic since 1990, 33 years.

That’s okay. That’s why I’m just asking you. There are some members who are doing well off anti psychotics here. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go off though. Too many people do well, think they don’t need it, go off without care and relapse badly.

That’s a very strange thing…
but actually probably it’s similar to other illnesses, for some medication is a number 1 rule, and few can live without medications.

Does mania count? If so one year and eleven months. If its only for psychosis two years and four months I had really crazy stuff going on but it went way and I didn’t require hospitalization thankfully.

Longest period without relapse was 4 years when I was working on my bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

I made it about 7 years. For about 3 yrs after i first went into psychosis, i was hospitalized every 1-2 months. Then i got pregnant, and it actually helped in stablizing me. (I dont recommend you try this method, lol) i remained stable for 7 years, had 2 kids in that time period. Then i relapsed with pain pills, and after a few months i ended up having another psychotic episode. So i went to rehab and got clean, and i had one more episode last year which prompted me to get ECT. I did that for 6 months, and it helped a little with my suicidal ideation, but im still getting symptoms such as paranoia, delusions, and hallucinations. I have enough insight now to realize that its my illness and its not real, so i dont go into full-blown psychosis luckily.

10 years then my pdoc tried to take me off them. Big big mistake.

About a year and a half i think? But it wasnt a very severe psychosis. I stayed in a nice public sub-acute ward for a few weeks and was fine after. The funny thing though, is that i felt fine until i actually stayed in the hospital. Its like being there unleashed my craziness. My old pdoc thinks being in psych wards is very triggering for me, because i stayed in a rough adult acute psych ward for like 5 months straight when i was in my teens.
