My Bipolar Disorder/SZA was triggered badly by a one time incident with Mescaline.
I was tripping for 2 days far away from home.
But I displayed mood instability and psychotic episodes during my childhood and teen years.

I’ve basically never used drugs. My guess is that it’s almost entirely genetics in my case, plus a bit of stress perhaps. Although I’ve only had one episode of psychosis so it’s unclear whether I should be labeled as a schizophrenic.

For me genetics mostly, maybe the 2-3 times I smoked weed but I think I would still have gotten sz without weed. When I first smoked weed it made me psychotic for a day but then after I was back to normal. Whenever I tried weed after having sz it made my symptoms worse for a day. But I imagine chronic daily weed use may cause worse symptoms over long periods of time.

Had symptoms as a teen but nothing major. Smoked weed around that time and became increasingly paranoid. Fast forward to my late 20s, I did shrooms and boom, full blown psychotic episode that didn’t stop.

I dunno I think I was just always off. I had the crippling fear since I was little and delusional thoughts and hallucinations. Since as far back as I can recall really.

One of my psychiatrists said it was due to stress.
