@Aziz, I was only able to work with my BSN nursing degree for 8 years. Then, I lost my nursing license due to very poor judgement due to sza.
Me I quit after 1-2 weeks 15 different jobs like physiotherapist, video games tester, accountant assistant, clothes seller, gym supervisor, credit card debt collector, etc
I tried for 10 years, I gave up a year and a half ago.
I personally found Zyprexa less potent than Risperdal.
But that’s me.
Risperidone and Zyprexa are usually both very effective against positive symptoms.
Zyprexa is usually more effective than Risperdal in combating negative symptoms.
I didn’t like Zyprexa because I was eating too much on it, 8 fried eggs at once everyday.
Wikipedia Zyprexa:
Treatment with olanzapine (like clozapine) may result in increased weight gain and increased glucose and cholesterol levels when compared to most other second-generation antipsychotic drugs used to treat schizophrenia.
@Wave @SkinnyMe Zyprexa is 5% stronger than Risperdal according to Wikipedia Zyprexa:
“It was 5% more effective than risperidone”
@Aziz, Trouble is, it’s a sucky med. Makes you gain way too much weight and it’s just not worth it in my opinion. I think Zyprexa should be banned altogether.
please come back when your period is back, i want to know how long it takes for your prolactin to be back to normal after the injections…
Do you experience negative symptoms?
Yes, a lot. I stay in bed all day everyday. Best med for negative symptoms is Abilify my psychiatrist said and from my experience. It improved my negative symptoms but I had to stop it due to bad side effects.
That’s unlucky , only 1 in 5 schizophrenic patients experience negative symptoms
I’m not sure what the “best” ap is for sza but Invega Sustenna is supposed to be the “first and only FDA- approved medication to treat sza as monotherapy.”
I was forced on Invega ER and stayed on it for 8 months. It wasn’t too bad at first, but after a while the side effects became unbearable (insomnia, agitation and akathisia) so I changed pdocs and went back on 1.25 mg Zyprexa which I have been on since 1997.
Yea my psy said only some szics have negative symptoms not a lot and that there is no meds yet. The fact that Abilify improved my negative symptoms gives me hope that future meds will improve these symptoms, Roluperidone and KarXT:
Different drugs affect different people differently. It’s a real crap shoot. Go on a drug review site and you’ll see an equal number of “this is my miracle drug” comments and “this drug made my life a living nightmare” comments.
It takes months if not years of trial and error to find the right drug for you.
the only drug approved by the FDA for schizoaffective is invega. that doesn’t mean other drugs don’t work, though.
