I’m starting Abilify today, switching from Invega, which I believe has caused me loss of sleep, libido, appetite, thirst, pleasure, etc. I want to know, what is your experience with Abilify. Is it a good drug? Does it cure the effects of loss of sleep, libido, appetite, thirst and pleasure? Or does it send you into mania and have other side effects?

It shouldn’t send you into mania but there could be anxiety. It’s supposed to prevent mania. It doesn’t make me all that sleepy or hungry. It is a great med though. Everybody is different but abilify sideeffects are well documented! More than any antipsychotic. Hint it is average in effectiveness and has few side affects compared to other antipsychotics in the typical person. But it’s the #1 med for me.
It’s working for me. It increased my blood sugar though and I have to take metformin for that. So get regular blood tests ( same as you should with any antipsychotic)
Got restless when I was on Abilify.
I went bat ■■■■ crazy on abilify. Made me the complete opposite of what every other ap has done. I got flashing peepers behind my eyes didn’t sleep most days had mania had to vret so many sle3ping pills. Cut myself tried to kill myself ended up in a normal hospital then a mental one and the white lines in my brain remained for a month after I stopped.
Kicked me hard in the balls. I’m amazed and proud of people who can take abilify. Hectic stuff
I have loss of libido on Abilify…
Only drug that lets me function enough to work, complete university, live on my own, etc…has been abilify.
Just the usual weight issues, loss of some creativity, and restlessness that I manage by taking longer walks bothers me.
Overall 9 out 10 sz points for abilify, in my opinion.
Took like 6 months to fully kick in when I first started though, but it really helped when it finally kicked in.
It controlled my psychosis decently but I felt overstimulated, sick, I threw up a few times a week, gained 20-30 pounds, felt restless, didn’t sleep well. When I came off of it I got really schizo with the withdrawal, massive delusions and voices. After that I went on Zyprexa and it has been the only AP that I have been satisfied with.
My anxiety is getting substantially worse.
I started getting injected with Abilify in the beginning of this year. It’s an okay anti-psychotic though I think I’m on a low dosage.
Abilify made me semi delusional…cost me my marriage…maybe it will work for you…others seem to like it.
Abilify failed to treat me on the long term. I had a breakdown with it. And I had many side effects on it like being emotionless and having no libido. But I have the same side effects with all antipsychotics since now.

I was super anxious, paranoid and Hallucinating on Abilify … but it did keep me out of the Hospital.
In all fairness I was also taking Tegretol at the time.
Tegretol reduces Abilify’s effectiveness.

When I started it, it made it hard to sleep. I sleep well now and, though I still struggle with anhedonia, I can feel pleasure most of the time. It does cause akathisia, for which I take artane.

I had anxiety and akathisia on a higher dose. But I went to a lower dose and everything is fine now.
I use CBD oil in pain, anxiety and panic attacks and it works good for me.
Disturbed sleep (always vivid dreaming + frequent awakenings), blurred vision after a few months (had to wear glasses), excessive salivation when sleeping
It fixed my thought disorder and psychosis but had zero effect on my anhedonia, except for the first 2-3days I felt a little bit less anhedonic on it
