I sometimes get images pushed into my head. Sometimes they take place with the background that’s directly I front of me. Sometimes in a completely different place. They bypass my eyes but when my vision goes for processing in my brain they somehow show up. What are these called? Are they still hallucinations if my eyes don’t see them but my brain does? If that makes any sense. Kind of like inner voices but instead inner images.

I have had inner images since 1973, when I was put on Haloperidol. I grasp at them with my mind as they appear, but they are fleeting and disappear before I can do anything with them. You are right. They are hallucinations. Kind of like dreaming awake.

those are called “visions” its not common but many people have experienced them throughout history described as something you actually see or a strong mental image of something

this is weird bc this just happened to me for the first time 2 nights ago, and it was really, really weird. I was just laying down in bed and I closed my eyes and I pretty instantly could see this guy standing outside my front door, he was holding a tube of, idk, looked like tooth paste, and he ate it. and I opened my eyes like ‘wtf?’ and it was gone… idk. couldn’t have been a dream, but it was odd

I’ve had them before I was put on any meds but it’s exactly as you say… Fleeting.
I see a lot of people saying things like intrusive images or thoughts, but you say visions. Are they different? Do they have any relation to paranormal or psychic realms?
Yes these too!!! But when I have these, they seem to come from outside of me. The ones I posted about come from inside my brain. Different from when I see things with the lights off. This is really good to know. Now I can explain this to my pdoc. Thank you!

Hopefully these don’t pick up in frequency for you. Mine seem to be very dark most of the time. They sure make you feel absolutely insane. At least they do for me. Good luck!

well they are the same thing but the spiritual person who believes in a spiritual realm will call it a vision given to them from an outside source . those who do not believe in such things will call it intrusive images it depends on your beliefs how you interpret it but same thing yes

I thought that name had a spiritual connotation. This is more what it feels like, sometimes they don’t make sense but I find I can put meaning to most of them pretty instantly. Thank you!

I hope not as well, it wasn’t dark but the man was wearing a fedora and a suit, all in grey and almost like he was from a different time zone looking… it was very vivid, like I was standing outside. happened just 10 seconds after closing my eyes… I hope yours go away! that sounds scary! I’m lucky mine wasn’t scary, with how vivid and real it seemed.
