I think it depends on the person. It also depends on what medication it is, how often you normally take it, and what your usual dose is. I’m on resperidone. I take it in the morning and at night. I frequently miss doses without any ill effects. I sometimes forget to take it or I’m out and I miss my usual time to take it so I go without. In 15 years I only had one problem because of missed doses and that happened when I ran out and I went four days without taking it. I felt kind of weird but I got back to normal soon after taking one pill.
When I’m running out of medication and I know I can’t get some for a few days I will start rationing my remaining medication. I will either cut my remaining pills in half and take them that way or I will keep them whole but take them every other day to make them last longer. If you are thinking of cutting them in half just be careful because some pills have the medication spread unevenly on the tablet. So if you cut then in half you may end up with the medication more on one half then the other.

Nothing happens the first time

I take Abilify morning and noon. Nothing happens if I miss one dose.

I take Invega . If I miss a dose…going 30 or so hours long between doses I get psychotic and am physically sick like I have the flu…great incentive to make sure I take my meds!

If I miss a dose, I can’t sleep and feel sick and anxious. I currently take Saphris and before that Clozaril; missing a dose of either of these makes me sick.
I take Geodon, Seroquel, and Wellbutrin. When I miss a dose my anger issues get worse. That could be psychosomatic, though. Sometimes I can get kind of euphoric when I miss a dose, and sometimes I just get angry.
I’m taking Saphris too and feel the same way when I miss a dose. Can’t sleep, feel sick and anxious.
Missing just one? I’m still Ok.
If I miss a day or two… I start pacing and rocking and paying attention to the world inside my head more then outside.
I start hearing them getting worse if I miss a dose.
Can’t sleep and when I do finally get to sleep no matter how long I sleep for I wake up feeling really tired.
Missing one dose doesn’t affect me, but after three days I start thinking weird thoughts and feel funny like all aggressive and jumbled up in my head, also anxious.
When I miss a dose nothing happens until about the second day. Then I feel off…lack of concentration and hard to think plus everything goes into motion visually. I start seeing things moving when they should be sitting still. Even the floor looks like an ocean with waves when I look at it.
Another thing that happens is that I start to feel really emotional, sad and insecure. I start to question everything and everyone.
Nothing happens if I miss one dose.
I am sure the Pharmaceutical companies see the withdrawal symptoms as a perk. Pretty sadistic way to keep people taking them even if they’re not really needed anymore.

I had horrible withdrawals. I was awake all night convulsing on the bathroom floor
i missed a dose all day and was very depressed and just randomly had sad thoughts and it was on and off it happen when i was not occupied then i took it a 8:30PM and it stops but i also take a mixture of aripiprazole, methylphenidate, Guanfacine, lamotrigine so i dont know if it was one of those or the aripiprazole(abilify) i just assumed it was the mood stabilizer.
I become a mess fairly quickly. Can’t sleep, agitated, angry, slightly manic if I go longer than one missed dose.
