What happens when PIP is up for renewal?

They will see if my circumstances have changed in three years, whats the pip process then? Do I reapply?

What does PIP stand for?

Personal independence payment.

You will be awarded it for a certain time period, then you get re-assessed.

My understanding is that this is 3 to 5 years - or indefinitely without

Mine was due for renewal end of 2020, but now it’s Jan 2023

I think my chances of keeping it are high, as if I appeal in court they have paid it to me for a long time and I can prove that!

Thank you @Joker but bit confused… are you saying yours was due for renwal at the end of 2020 but it was never reviewed?

Because of Covid they pushed my review to Jan 2023 when it should have been Dec 2020

Fair enough, makes sense… I am going to have to start collecting evidence if I’m going to get reviewed in two years time…

It will be how you are at the time.

They’re ass holes and will make up a load of nonsense anyway

Half the stuff they awarded me for I said nothing about, and others I was treated like a liar

The process is corrupt

If you have it, I’d say the chances of losing it are fewer and you should - hopefully - continue to get it

That said, if you’re recovered enough not to need it then that’s also a good thing

My renewal came up last november. Just make sure you get an evidence letter from your psych team. I was gobsmacked cos they actually upped my Daily Living allowance to Enhanced. (No Mobility). Got it for 6 years.

A covering letter from your “care-co ordinator” works wonders. Havent had a face 2 face medical in 25 years.

Unfortunately I’ve not had a care coordinator since 2015 I believe but I can try to get evidence from my GP although I’m not sure that enough.

Sounds like the UK disability benefit system is quite complex. It’s the same in Belgium’

It’s made so complicated I think they’re just trying to deny as many people as possible - and cause lots of stress to mentally vulnerable people.
