What happens if a non-schizophrenic (or otherwise not mentally ill) takes an antipsychotic like risperdone regularly?
In the United states, you run for President.
I believe someone not sz will sleep for a week on my meds.
He turns into a jelly fish!
I guess it depends on dosageā¦ I take 5mg abilify and Iām still not a jelly fish.
Most likely youāll be drained of energy and gain weight in the short term. In the long term itās possible you can develop tardive dyskinesia
Basically the same thing that happens when szās that take APs.
Their penises shrink and they sing like Franki Vallie on Helium. :
My best friend took a couple thinking they were painkillers once, she slept for fourteen hours
When I get psychotic I sleep 8 hours on 300 mg Quetiapine, 3 mg Melatonin, 10 mg Nitrazepam, 15 mg Zopiclone, 2 ml Alimemazin. I also have 25 mg Abilify every day. I believe that would kill someone not psychotic. Or maybe make them sleep for a week.
Antipsychotics are not jut for psychosis anymore.
They are used for other conditions such as depression, anxiety and non psychotic bipolar as well.
At the dose it takes for my kind of schizophreniaā¦it would make a normal (I mean no mental disorder) person go to sleep for eight hours and then wake up really groggy. You could remove a normal persons wisdom teeth without any trouble if they took ALL of my morning meds. Nighttime meds, they would probably sleep for 15 hours. Regardless, no normal person could stay conscious if they took my meds on the schedule I do- they would pass out after the first two I take on my nightstand right when I wake up. If they were somehow administered all of my meds that I take in a day at the times I take them, I assume they would need to get their stomach pumped or given detox meds because they would maybe die.
But no they wouldnāt die, antipsychotics are designed to make overdose non lethal. However, with my other meds, it might just be lethal. Dangerously low blood pressure and completely underā¦wouldnāt risk that.
gave the druggie next door a dose of my pills he said he could feel no effect, the support worker said ike turner gave someone cocaine and the guy said he could feel no effect and ike said youāve been here 3 days
Iām a non schizophrenic according to current diagnosis and take antipsychotics. Does the depot knock me out for hours on end ? -no. Yes I take to bed a lot but thatās out of boredom not tiredness.
Having said that I think it does depend on the antipsychotic for example 10mg of Zyprexa used to really zonk me out. The risperdal depot has nothing like that effect.
Then again although now classified as non schizophrenic Iām not exactly what you would call psychiatrically ānormalā .
the hint is in the name āāmajor tranqulizersāā that cause sedation
Most here (correctly) are responding about prescribed antipsychotics. Patrick should run for President! haha! But I canāt imagine any doctor recommending someone taking a sz med just for the heck of it.
But an up-and-coming antipsychotic remedy for sz is high-CBD cannabis such as Charlotteās Web Hemp Oil www.therocus and (smokable/liquid) ACDC. Not to be confused with āmedical marijuanaā HIGH-CBD cannabis does NOT get a person high.
The non bipolar/sz person wonāt find negative effects from CBDs, like sleeping for days, etc. In my case (family member of a son with sz) Charlotteās Web helps me sleep, reduces my anxiety and helped a couple friends get over migraines in 2.5 hours.
Charlotteās Web is LEGAL (and itās shipped LEGALLY to 48 states!).
Clinical CBD (cannabidiol) trials show anti-psychotic properties and maybe even lessening side effects from p-doc meds.
Clinical study: Cannabidiol (CBD) reduces psychosis.

Clinical study: CBD progress and it has fewer side effects?
A great paper with many clinical studies of non-psychoactive chemical compounds in cannabis!!
Try that instead of messing with an antipsychotic med that has known side effects!
Iāve heard of some doctors prescribing Zyprexa to non-schizophrenics as a sleep aid, itās apparently very sedating. In any case this is a very bad idea as APs can wreak havok with your blood sugar and insulin sensitivity.
Was the druggie there three days?
They used to. The AP of choice for sleep these days is Seroquel quetiapine. (It is regularly Rxed to post-op patients now.) But at a very low dose, as was the case with Zyprexa olanzepine 15 to 20 years ago. Iāve been taking the stuff at a very low dose for over a decade minimal to no sfx.
Iāve heard that they use APās, these major tranquilizers, to knock out elephants and bears and tigers and such, in the wild. They are that strong. Thatās what they put in the tranquilizer guns.
Rarely used in humans, however.
