If an individual was wrongly diagnosed and put on an AP, would they become psychotic?
Probably not psychotic. But as drugs affect everybody differently anyway it would be a bit unpredictable.
Wow you go in for restless leg syndrome and you get prescribed Risperidone. Man would I be mad.
He would experience restless, lack of emotion, lack of motivation, hormonal imbalance and all the other side effects we go through.
Also when you start taking antipsychotics your brain tries to compensate the dopaminergic blockade by creating new receptors, once the drug is discontinued there will be higher receptors density than normal, this might lead to psychotic symptoms till the brain will balance things again.
Exactly. And Iām guessing it would be near impossible to sue or get the doctor fired. There needs to be more accountability. And yet I hear they want to make it easier to become a doctor. Rubbish.
Iām actually looking forward someday for AI to assist doctors in diagnosing.
Iām not saying I was wrongly diagnosed, I do have false beliefs (donāt want to use the word ādelusionsā because itās harsh) but I do show signs of anxiety more so the paranoia part.
Could anxiety cause paranoia?
Have you thought about seeing a neurologist?
Iām seen just about every āologistā ever. My current pdoc is lowering my AP and Increasing my AD.
I also get body jerks, which is believed to be from anxiety, or the consequences of my 2 year benzo use.
Iāll update on my situation with the AP once it reaches 20mg.
No. They would not. They would get the same side effects as people who need them. There would be no benefit and only risk.
Antipsychotics are disputably worth the risk when you have certain severe psychiatric conditions. If you take them without having one of these psychiatric conditions, you are still likely to experience the side effects, but without any benefit.
