I am 25…I think my generation is full of douche bags…but that’s proly because of personal experience. most of the guys my age in my area are assholes. they think mental illness is something to make of, or a sign of weakness. Most of them think if you are mentally unstable you cant stand up for yourself. I deat with this a lot BEFORE I was diagnosed in high school, most of my friends were bi polar, ‘emo’ and gay/lesbian, so they dealt with bullies far more often than I would have liked. If I had been diagnosed at 17-18? they would have prevented a lot of fights. between the ages of 13 and 20 I was suspended or arrested 36s time for fighting/assault. No charges ever stuck because I never threw the first punch…
All I’ll say is if the World’s energy supply ever was cut off forever billions would die due to not being able to adjust and the younger generation would be the first to go.
I agree, however, I work with my friends to raise a giant garden that continuously feeds over 20 people. I think i might be okay…but who knows…also…i make leather products from animal skins…dont ask…
Insert younger generation rant. Add comparisons in fasion music and state of the world. Insert kanye west joke. Top it off with why my generations better. Finish strong with stay off my lawn with your skinny jeans. Add a ps thanks for the yoga pants. Success!! I rest my case
■■■■■■■ whippersnappers!
I like the young people I know. They’re so open and searching, trying to figure things out.
My sis is 19… is a lifeguard… studying to be a nurse.
her friends are pretty decent people… the kids who work in our community gardens are pretty cool… with ideas and hopes.
as far as the kids who are more digitally engrossed… it seems to be the rich kids who can afford all the tech…
NOT the poor kids who are working at 17 to help their parents keep a roof over the entire families head.
I think people who constantly complain about “Kid’s toady” haven’t really interacted with any on a constant level. I’ve met some who renew my hope for the future…
That’s just me.
This kid is only 16… creating jobs for the homeless… and trying to help the homeless…
Okay this may be a coincidence but my sister is also 19 and studying in nursing school, and I work in a community garden every Saturday morning.
I live in a medium to high income area area and there are a few extremely rich kids at my school who have super fancy cars and clothes that will probably cost more than college. These annoy me so much, because they complain about everything. Why complain about hw in a class which you chose to take??? Sorry about the mini rant D: .
The sleeping bag invention is awesome and a pride to my generation though. It is good to see that happening. I guess a lot of it depends on where you live.
I think that it’s fantastic that you’re interested in computers and programming, There continues to be a shortage of women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields in the US so keep up the good work and shoot for the stars!
The younger generation know computer far earlier than I was. And I was told that programmers nowadays don’t fix computers, they just fix bugs. I believe this is job specialization. During our days in the 90s, we studied the IBM Technical Manual about various low-level stuffs. I worry that the younger generation don’t know the fundamental computing knowledge of its early days.
What’s your opinion about the privacy issues with Apple? I read it in the news. Should the Apple open a backdoor for deciphering its iPhone?
I think something the younger generation realizes that my generation did not is that we’re taught as children that we have a set of needs or desires, depending on your politics, and that you need to fill each in an “optimal” way. The problem with that is that it’s too rigid and static to work in reality. I’m not talking so much about compromise as understanding that there are positives and negatives to everything and as your life changes and the needs you want gratified change, you need to swap out what made you happy, even if it still makes you happy, for something that fits a bit better.
As for more liberal? As far as it comes to behavior, we begin to hide it for fear of being judged. As far as attitudes, we become more permissive if anything, I think. As far as ideas, we become less sure of our guesswork.
Yay liberal younger generation! I’m 32.
Do you, too feel the Bern? lol
You guys are like the first generation to come up without seeming too racist, classist, homophobic, xenophobic…my gen was most definitely not like that
I thank you, young generation, for your contribution and encourage you to participate in politics that way we can usher out these racist, homophobic, sexist, xenophobic politicians out of their lairs and replace them with you young ens hahaha.
When I was in junior high school my class was partly made up of idiots and partly made up of great kids (full disclosure: I was one of the idiots). My daughter is in junior high and things look pretty much the same, except that she’s not one of the idiots. Thank gawd for that. Me? I’m a bit less of an idiot these days thanks to learning from painful mistakes, so that’s something.
Things are as they should be. No need for panic.
Pixel.
It’s been said that people who don’t know the value of what they have are always discontent. I know some people like that who are my age and older… never appreciates what they have…
I don’t consider that an age thing as much as a class thing.
While many programmers do just fix bugs, a good couple of others are involved in creating new programs and software. One of my good friends first started teaching me how hardware works(in the super technical manner, things like the math behind circuits and accelerometers) and later, we worked on programs that cause the actions of such hardware.
I honestly prefer the engineering and mathematical side of computers, for it relaxes me in some strange way.
As for Apple, I believe they already have the software to unlock the phone. Because Apple is one of the last major technology companies that doesn’t let the government in to their information, they have received a large clientele. I am certain that Apple knows that a small but important portion of their clients use their product for possible law-defying or law-stretching purposes. As well, many people take comfort in knowing that the Patriot Act hasn’t reached their iPhone, yet.
Despite this, Apple could be tried as technically committing treason against the United States. The issue is that the U.S. is not supposed to hurt a private businesses’s success or reputation but still needs that information for national security reasons.
The whole ordeal is messy. Apple could claim their right to allow freedom of speech while the U.S. could argue for national security reasons. Overall, my opinion is still wandering on this one. What do you think?
Hehehheh. At first I was icy cold. However, now, I’m starting to feel some Bern.
Thank you very much! That means a lot to me. I am going to try my best.
Thank you for your honest yet interesting reply. Wish you get well soon.
Sorry for late reply. I am a South East Asian, but have concern over the matter. I am not aware of how has the news story developed over the week.
Like what you have said, it is the hard choice to make between national security and freedom of speech.
With that said, Apple can prioritize which comes first: Does national security outweigh the freedom of speech in this particular request from the U.S. government, or vice versa.
Thank you, Sharp! Hope to hear more from you.
