Poll: Hating on younger generations

Do you realize how often the word “millennial” is thrown around here?

Do you think people who hate on younger generations have forgotten how they used to be? And have forgotten that they used to be hated on by older generations when they were young?

Do you think they understand that calling young people lazy and morally degenerate is one of the biggest clichés throughout all of history? That it dates back to writings from Ancient Greece, and probably also to the time when we sat in caves and started using language to describe each other’s age and actions?

Do you think these old farts just need to lighten up, get a little creative, and stop using younger generations as a scapegoat for everything they dislike?

If so, this poll is for you.

Should we stop the scapegoating cliché once and for all?

  • Yes we should
  • Too long, didn’t read
  • The voting options in this poll are not representative of the diversity of opinions (and I’m an old fart)

Whenever I hear old people putting down young people, I tell these old people that they are just jealous of the young people.

I love the poll options.

I’d love to stop the cycle,

But its hard to connect to younger generations when we’re already so vastly different.

I’m 33 and already I can’t stand seeing kids walking around with phones glued to their eyeballs.

However,

I know you’re right and I’m just part of the problem.

Maybe I’ll try to stop being such a curmudgeonly old lady…

Maybe.

So true. Even my parents sometimes says “we were like them”
Also please search the video on youtube “young and wild and free”- Snoop D. and W. Khalifa (I like that song)

I don’t think either side should put down anyone, but it is frustrating coming from the younger side of things being told I’m lazy and entitled just for existing in my age group. I try to avoid telling older people they’re out of touch or anything because I understand adapting is hard. I wish people were just a little nicer to each other. :frowning:

I don’t think “old farts” is as offensive as “millennials” these days. :upside_down_face: And besides, ageism has no age. I’m criticizing old people who are ageist, not old people in general. And I’m against ageism of all kinds.

No, this thread is hating on stereotyping and cliches. If you identify with that, maybe that’s the problem.

I am 43 and do not consider myself and old fart but I feel out of touch with mostly everyone on this site. I have used the term once on this site when I felt out of touch. It was not an insult. I was asking a question what 15151 meant? I will say this site is very cliquey. I do not know if that is a milleneal thing or not as I can’t tell everyone’s age here.

I think the 90s were more exciting tbh and I was born in 1992.

Yeah, articles like that are what we are talking about. Gen Z is very motivated to enact the change that my generation kept talking about wanting.

This thread is as old as socrates.

Yep. Out-of-touch whiners will always be complaining about young people these days. Probably because they’re jealous of the thugs the young people have access to that they never did.

OMG Why isn’t LED jumping all over this? I am whining now because women on this site keep attacking me. I am changing my username to sound more male to see how different the other females treat me here.

I think the only complaint I have about gen Z is that everyone’s a victim. Even caroline.

I give trust and respect to everyone I meet, regardless of age, what they do with it is up to them.

I don’t mind young people from a distance, to old to keep up with them LOL
