Im always so hungry and i cannot control it. Im now getting criticised by my father for eating so much when i cannot control it. It is bringing me down and i dont know what to do because i dont want to get fat but im always so hungry.
Seroquel did that to me. I gained 90 pounds in one year. I asked to be taken off of it and my pdoc agreed and from Seroquel I went to Invega. Then I couldn’t afford Invega and started taking cheaper meds. Now I’m on haloperidol decanoate 100 mg shot. I’m not too hungry on it
You could ask your doctor about LYBALVI . It’s olanzapine combined with something else, and it causes less weight gain.
Zyprexa is notoriously known to be a weight gainer. I used to be on it. I would eat a lot of soups and veggies and go for walks.
I dont think it is in ym country yet though
I sort of want to come off but im scared of what ill do off of it
You could switch meds. But most APs lower metabolism and increase appetite. It’s harder to lose weight on them but it’s possible. I lost 30 kg while being on the max dose of Invega.
Try to eat smaller meals. Eat until your are satisfied, but not full, if you know what I mean. And then you just have to ignore the body wanting more food. It’s hard at first because the body isn’t used to it, but it gets easier as time passes when the body gets accustomed to smaller portions.
I was on olanzapine 10mg and accomplished losing about 15kg like this. I also worked out though. Like strengt 2-3 times a week, and also jogging 2 times a week as I recall.
They tried different meds on me in the hospital when I was first diagnosed. I was on Seroquel for a day and starving. I was tired and in bed so I asked for a different med. I was starving on Abilify for two days and up pacing the hallways in the middle of the night. So I asked to be changed again. I went to Geodon. It lessened my appetite and once I took it twice a day I have no appetite. I wish I had an appetite though. It’s important to note on Seroquel and Abilify I was eating filling foods and still hungry.
Its the same with me. If i dont eat i get restless and fidgety. Then my eyes would role up if i was doing anything which requires focus. Im at odds of what i should do because it is the only medication that i have tried that works. I feel as if i should just end my own life if i cant have a normal life. Im that depressed
I dont want to get fat because then ill be so ugly no one would ever want to be with me
See if your pdoc will let you change medications. I’m not hungry on Geodon and there’s was another one mentioned that doesn’t cause hunger by @LilyoftheValley. See if there’s other suggestions for meds in this thread. It’ll get better. Don’t give up.
But i dont think geodon is in my country yet
Thats the problem my country doesnt have the full list of medications yet.
What about haloperidol? I’m not a doctor, of course, but maybe this one will work for you and not cause hunger. Ask the pdoc for a recommendation for a new drug. Tell them the hunger Olanzapine is causing you.
I havent tried haloperidol but i think the doc said it was related to respiridone and i had a bad reaction the that drug my legs were like jelly and i was tired all the time.to the point of falling asleep in class when i was in college .
That was why i havent tried haloperidol yet

Here’s what I suggest other than switching meds…
Try to divide your meals into six portions and eat every three hours a little bit
Consume low fat proteins, lots of veggies and moderate amount of fruit
Eat a lot of fiber.
Drink lots of water, especially if you feel the need to eat but don’t need to
Distract yourself with hobbies or activities so you don’t get bored. Boredom can trigger the desire to eat.
Exercise as much as you are able.
The most important thing is to distract yourself as much as possible. Instead of snacking, or eating outside your meal times, try to engage your mind in other things.
I’m sorry I didn’t answer your original question. I just talked to you about medications. Eat food that you find filling. Examples are meat, eggs, peanut butter, vegetables, bananas and more.
