What are your biggest health issues right now?

I am an advocate of seeking better working conditions before it goes too far, but that’s up to you if you wish to try that

Unsure what you do for work, so can’t give any specific advice

My problem is I go in cycles, and sometimes it becomes too late to salvage on occasion

That’s what happened to my landscaping and the job before that

I start a new job tomorrow which is probably going to be my last shot at trying to keep employed

That’s exciting. Can I ask what the job position is called or is it private.

It’s weird but I was diagnosed Paranoid Schizophrenia too and supposedly that was AFTER the DSM-5 came out. According to the internet:

" he current edition of the DSM, the fifth revision (DSM-5) 1, was published in May 2013"

I was diagnosed only about 7 years ago. So, I am not sure what is up with that. Maybe a slight delay in implementation? IDK

I was diagnosed in 2004.

I think the term paranoid schizophrenia is so ingrained in the culture people continue to use it, doctors included, even when I was younger, long before I became psychotic I had heard the term “Paranoid Schizophrenia” and in my ignorance just thought that those people were nuts. There are actually 5 subtypes of schizophrenia in the DSM4 but I don’t think many people have heard of the others, I hadn’t prior to developing the condition and studying up on it. I hear modern day comics make crazy jokes about paranoid schizophrenia too. A guy on The Late Late Show with James Corden referenced it a few months ago on the show

Cool. I hope it goes well!

Mine is cleaner role in a hospital. Full time.

Tbh if the rooms I’m cleaning didn’t have people and the medical team in them, my mood wouldn’t be low…

cholesterol a little high, i just started on a statin, and prolactin a little high, testosterone i suspect is also a little low, but i can make lifestyle changes that will help and some supplements for prolactin, my nurse recommended vit b6 and vit e supplementation to lower prolactin. and i will probably get a med reduction soon so that should help my physical health anyways.

If you want to see a humorous (notice the British spelling/influence) bit about Canadian compromise watch this. It’s from a comedy show called 22 minutes on the CBC (The CBC is the equivalent of the BBC here in Canada). This clip is a comic by the name of Mark Critch impersonating Rex Murphy talking about how Canadians measure stuff. Rex Murphy was a Rhodes scholar that used to be a commentator on CBC. It talks about being split between British and American influence.I found it absolutely hilarious.

oh, sorry to hear that. I love comedy. It’s not a long video, maybe you have to live in Canada to find it funny, idk.

What dose of Invega are you on? How high is your prolactin? My prolactin is 32.5 and max normal value is 17.4. I am on 6mg Risperdal. Dr is switching me to Clozapine to lower my prolactin, she said Clozapine doesn’t affect prolactin like Risperdal.

Thanks

I am assuming the hospital must be quite a large one?

You might be able to get reasonable adjustments. Like shift pattern changes or working in different places within it

Maybe if you worked a Saturday and Sunday when the doctors are not around as much?

Not sure, just trying to see if there is anything you can do to lower stress.

It is a medium sized hospital. Quite a lot of floors.

Thanks for the suggestions Joker,

That’s ok

When I got stressed before and low mood, I asked for flexible working and occy health made them do it

If they’re a good employer, they should understand if you speak to the right person

Good luck

I do have the best working hours already since it is early morning start hence getting shift out the way. So it’s just about getting used to people interaction and the protocols and such. I suppose.

Hope your first day goes well! Feel free to let us know how it goes!!

My upper right teeth have been disintegrating since my last major dental work. Not rotting or decaying, but falling apart in little pieces. Another two pieces just broke off a minute ago; when I run my tongue over that area the teeth are mostly gone and it’s just gum and jagged teeth that will eventually easily break off too. I think it’s my dentists fault, he didn’t do anything to save those teeth.
