Antipsychotics saved my life, though I need an increase
APs changed my life. Iam much happier and stable.
You still on Invega @anon4362788? What AP’s are you on @John_Raven?
I’m on abilify 10 mg probably getting it increased though
Oh okay I remember now. Good luck.
@lenny which mood stabilizers do you like?
Seroquel completely turned my life around a few years back. It was the only thing that kept my suicidal thinking under control. I was recently bumped up on dosage and it’s helping even more. At least I think. Some of my thinking is just getting worse
Between risperidone and abilify, I vote for abilify. I know they are atypical antipsychotics but they also act as mood stabilizers. I lived for years with ups and downs and I’ve been with antidepressants more than I’ve been with antipsychotics so I do value a lot not having such highs and lows that were impossible to deal with. The mood swings hit me hard on my adolescence
My favs are Invega (the best I’ve had for schizophrenia), prazosin, chlorazepam (which I no longer take because it’s no longer available for me but I preferred it over klonopin.) (By the way I’ve never drunk alcohol. I just have anxiety.), and trazadone (which never fails to put me to sleep). I don’t want to choose a type because all the problems these drugs help with are just about equally bad.
I like Geodon and Seroquel, but that doesn’t mean I like all anti psychotics. I like the anti anxiety med’s, but I overdosed on some of those, and I probably won’t get any anti anxiety drugs ever. Anti depressant drugs don’t work well on me. I don’t think I have ever been on a mood stabilizer.
I’ve had four weeks out of four years of not hearing voices or seeing things that aren’t there. Definitely antipsychotics.
I voted for mood stabilizers because Depakote has been such a lifesaver but the truth is that I also need to be on an antipsychotic.
I suffer with terrible delusions and paranoia.
Lamictal has been a life saver for my depressive swings. I didn’t vote AP simply due to the fact I’m still trying to find on that fits for me. Risperidone and haldol weren’t good for me, switching now to latuda
@TheBest Yes, they increased me to 234mg when 156 had no effect. I was a basket case. They also increased frequency to every 3 weeks because it wears off and I havebreakthrough symptoms at about 3 weeks in. Oh I also have risperdal 2mg prn for any breakthroughs.
None of the above. I prefer stimulants.
Antipsychotic. It has dramatically improved my life. It’s like night and day change.
Oh no! I accidently voted when i wanted to see the results. I never even used mood stabilizers. I tried to undo it but failed.
Im kind of amused by this thread. It never really occured to me to call a med a “favourite”. After some bad experiences I always saw them as nasty and evil. My perspective became less black and white over the years, but i still find it hard to see them as helpful. I like to read how others genuinely feel helped by their meds.
No meds are my favorite
I voted for AP’s hands down. My next favorite is definitely the anti anxiety med.
