What are some good anxiety medications and how do they work?

Ive took vraylar and it gave me really bad anxiety. What are some good anxiety medicines to take with olanzapine. I know im not schizophrenic but i am in fact bipolar and i need something to calm my anxiety.

It’s not good to take too many medications, olanzapine should make you less anxious.

Try to simplify and find alternatives ways like exercise or meditation

BuSpar is helpful for me and non-addictive. I’d stay away from benzos.

I’ve taken SSRI’s, benzo’s, and non-benzo fast acting anti-anxiety medications such as hydroxyzine. Let your pdoc know you’re feeling really bad anxiety and they will help guide you to the right meds.

Ultimately, this is a question for your psychiatrist. We can’t answer this or tell you what meds you should take. They all have their ups and downs, and user experience will vary. Some people say benzo’s are awful (I personally don’t like them), while some say they can’t function without it. Many people thrive on SSRI’s, while others don’t do so well on them. Hydroxyzine is great for me as a fast acting anti-anxiety medication, but it also makes me really sleepy. There are medications that don’t treat the anxiety, but help with the physical manifestations of anxiety such as hand shaking.

Look into silexan. It’s pharma-grade lavender oil in pill form. Some studies show it’s effective for GAD

Effexor XR has been really good for my social anxiety. It is an anti-depressant.

For benzos, Klonipin is excellent. But, I wouldn’t recommend it for the long term. You might try an SSRI antidepressant or the med Buspar. Mindfulness meditation is also most excellent. For “on the spot” anxiety, slow, deep breathing in through the nose and out through pursed lips is very good. Hope all this helps.

I am starting Buspar as soon as the prescription comes from the local mail order pharmacy - prolly Monday. Have hope, as I’ve seen it help several people here.

My psychiatrist won’t prescribe benzos and said seroquel should help with sleep and anxiety.
