When first diagnosed with sz in October I was prescribed 5mg olanzapine for 30 days. I took 1 a day. It didn’t do anything to mediate the voices as far as I could tell and I started having tactile hallucinations gradually after that which I hope is just a coincidence. I read somewhere that sometimes medications especially APs can make symptoms worse in some ppl. Was wondering what meds y’all take and how much and are you still hearing/feeling hallucinations?
5mg of olanzapine is a very low dose.
I’m on 20mg of olanzapine and 1.5mg of vraylar.

Perphenazine 8mgs twice a day. No real side effects and symptoms improved greatly. Quit hearing voices, not really paranoid, and thought broadcasting and ideas of reference are pretty much gone. Best I’ve done since having schizophrenia.

I take 20 mg of Abilify daily. It dulls a lot of noise sensitivity (my brain felt like an open sore as far as sound went), and it dulls the intensity of the voices. I still get breakthrough voices, whispering in the background in random words and full sentences. Still, this is better than hearing full paragraphs of talking, and at a louder intensity (though there are days where I miss lots of talking…it’s like being thrown into solitary confinement!).
Abilify dulled my emotions too. I have trouble having intense feelings about anything. I have trouble getting interested in other people, so I have no friends.
I also want to eat all the food!
My doctor wants me on Invega, but I don’t want injections. Hell no.

Stuck with Zyprexa.

Sure. I’m on 700 mg qutiapine by mouth and Clopixol 500’mg depot every 3 week.
The drugs feel like a pleasant straitjacket that remove most of my thought including psychotic thoughts.

Clozapine 150 mg and Vraylar 6 mg. Excellent meds for sza and suicidal ideation but I have serious physical side effects from the clozapine…but it’s the only thing that’s ever worked for me so they won’t take me off it. Heart issues have occurred with it, so they just lowered the dose and told me to be careful when I exert myself.

I take 2 ap’s. 2mg 2/day brexpiprazole and 5mg 1/day olanzapine.
I haven’t felt better than this since my symptoms started in 2007. I get a little mild akathesia now and again but all in all it has been excellent.
