The Medication Vraylar

Any of you guys take this drug and what are your experiences with it good or bad, side effects etc? Thanks.

Started taking it today and I am excited about it, I am hoping it works great.

I’m on it, just went to 4.5mg. Been taking it for about 6/7 months now I think. Increased saliva (not really to the point of drooling) and a wee bit of weight gain that I attribute to it. Otherwise I’ve had no other side effects, personally speaking. I have sza and it helps shave off the low and high peaks, plus clears up my thinking with paranoia/delusions.

I’ve been on 3 mg of Vraylar for a while now, over a year. It works great for me in conjunction with my main AP, Latuda. Gives me some energy, along with my antidepressant, and takes the edge off my paranoia. Great drug, IMO.

I took it for a couple of months. It was just way to expensive to keep taking it.

I have SZA and on 3 mg of Vraylar. I have been on this for a few years. I gained weight on it but because I felt comfortable and got lazy. Also I am always hungry on Vraylar but trying to curb my eating and get exercise. I still hear voices/have symptoms occasionally but it’s much less severe. I only take my Vraylar because my PDOC thinks that taking an antidepressant with it would be too activating for me. I don’t feel like a zombie anymore like I did on a few other meds so that’s good.

Was your erotomania better on other meds?

Well probably Abilify but after taking it for over 15 years it became no longer affective. I have been SZA for too long @Aziz! lol I already had to switch a medication because I outgrew it or something?

I had it on Abilify. Honestly idk if its the Abilify or the sz causing the erotomania but it disappeared now on Risperdal 6mg.

Wow great news @Aziz and thanks for the tip. I will look into Risperdal.

Thanks for the replies everyone, so far the only side effects I’ve had is shaky hands, extremely increased sex drive and sleeping less which is a plus because seroquel makes me over sleep.

Interesting you guys are having weight gain on it as my doc said it was weight neutral.

I did throw up all of my food yesterday on day 2 of taking it and have no appetite to eat today, idk if it’s food poisoning or the vraylar…

Feeling high functioning again this med is a blessing.

So far my review of taking this med for about a week and a half is it’s the best ap med I’ve ever taken with latuda taking a close 2nd place right behind it.

Zero side effects to complain about.

Life has significantly improved for me in a multitude of ways and is only getting better.

I’m on 1.5mg with also seroquel at 900mg as a combo.

Vraylar gave me the shakes, particularly at night. I stopped taking over a year ago but I’m still getting the occasional spasm at night. APs are not to be trusted, but of course talk therapy is out of the question for most of us largely on budgetary concerns.

Being on Vraylar got me involuntarily committed for 5 weeks 6 years ago.
But everyone is different.

I don’t think Vraylar was out then…?

Yes it was @Pandy

Cool. Happy to be wrong! :grinning:

From the online medical site healthline

Vraylar was initially approved in 2015 for the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder and for treatment of schizophrenia in adults.
