I have a feeling that depends…

I have deeper negative symptoms so for me the Latuda worked miracles. Seroquel does help… but when I was on Seroquel alone… that was a numb and depressing time in my life.

But Seroquel WITH Latuda… that gave me my life back…

I have read on here that… for some of the members who have more positive symptoms… Latuda is too agitating.

I know that some members do GREAT on Geodon. For me… that was a nightmare.

I could suggest Latuda due to the great results I had from it… but that doesn’t mean it will work the same way for others…

I do hope you get to talk to a doc and find something that will answer your question.

Olanzapine is anti chlorogenic - a little bad for memory. I used to take olanzapine 20 mg every night and 2 mg resperidone early morning and then I changed it to 20 mg olanzapine and 4 mg resperidone morning… And then I gained weight because of olanzapine. I stopped taking meds and took niacin 5 grams everyday and there was no anger but psychosis was a little more and couldn’t sleep… for seven days I didn’t take any anti psychotic and niacin alone means no anger but couldn’t sleep for seven days/nights at-most I could only sleep for a couple of hours and was troubled by psychosis and then I started taking 10 mg olanzapine and I was kicking empty air the 8th day and was having mood swings when troubled by parents, my father kept nagging me about job money etc I was cursing my father because I personally felt he was acting like a complete idiot. My Father is a doctor - eye specialist and my elder sister is a doctor - dentist and they never gathered info on schizophrenia. I know that our prefrontal cortex and temporal lobes don’t work properly and thus we have poor memory. Few days ago I visited the all new schizophrenia.com website and I realized I don’t have money and the vitamins they posted-researched… Before any one telling me about B6 I read many months ago that it is useful and after I used B6 I felt awesome.

http://schizophrenia.com/

                         Sarcosine

                         D-Serine

                         N-Acetyl cysteine (NAC)

                         Melatonin

                         D-Alanine

                         B-Vitamins

                         Omega-3 for Prevention

                   Prenatal Choline for Prevention

I don’t have money for all these.

Now I’m happy with a better brain… what do I take?

Olanzapine 20mg every night ---- after taking this drug I want to eat more so I decided I will say no to more food and only eat less food and I no longer gain weight

B3 niacin 4.5 grams everyday 1.5 grams 3 times ---- niacin doesn’t give me flush why because I use magnesium

Magnesium 400 mg morning 400 mg night

B6 ---- 100 mg maximum everyday — don’t take more than 100 mg

B9 folic acid 5 mg

B12 1500 mcg

c vitamin 1 gram morning 1 gram night

D3 vitamin 5000 IU one capsule everyday

I don’t have money for Omega 3 fatty acids

When I took large doses of omega 3 I felt as if I gained presence of mind

I don’t have money to buy everything.

Not many for me… I had more side effects from the higher dose of Seroquel alone.

I did swing in to a manic phase… but that leveled out after a balancing act between the Latuda and Seroquel.

People react differently to different drugs and dosages. What works for me, may not not work well for you. I don’t mean to be rude but would it really help you if I told you that resperidone works for me? It might not help you at all. The best thing is to work with your doctor on finding the right meds. All of us are guinea pigs but that’s the way it is.

Pts need to be evaluated by licensed psychopharmacologists. Sz is an extremely complex disease with common behavioral manifestations. Diagnosis and prescription are done in a complex manner called “algorithm.” Pros know how to do it. Find one.

Invega is new and has been very good to me.

I’m into the older meds. For one thing, they are a lot cheaper!

I am on prolixin (generic fluphenazine). no side effects for me. and like Jayster said, a very cheap med to afford!

I have tried risperidona but could not stand the side effects, it was even blocking my nose.
Im on GEODON with great results, I work, Im independent and the only side effect is headache once a month, some muscle involuntary movements (very low thought) on my tight. I am a bit overweight but just abdominal fat.
Could not guess the long term side effects on heart disease ( it does fact it as per what is written on the papers that comes with it). Hope this can contribute. GEODON is not as cheap as Risperidona but my medicine is provided by my government.

Kind Regards,

Paula

INVEGA (thee) - (end)

Actually Jayster - almost all the so called 2nd generation antipsychotics are now gone Generic (even Abilify as of this month) - so all but the newest ones are very cheap, and the newest ones are really not supposed to be much better than the 2nd generation ones - so any of the medications should be fine, I think (as long as it works for the person and isn’t too expensive)

Karl,

You might want to check out this discussion thread:

Provigil has gone generic. Yet, it is still outrageously expensive. That is, it seems it has gone from $900 for a month’s supply to $600 for month’s supply. I’m underwhelmed by the savings!

Yes, generic Provigil is so expensive that I still need to get a Prior Authorization each January to fill the script, and my insurance company will not payfor the one month it takes to fill out prior authorization, get denied, and send in the appeal.

You can be sure if these folks want to play hard ball, I can play!

Jayster

Wow - really? I’m amazed. I thought all drugs cost only a few pennies a month to manufacture so when they went generic they were all priced closer to that. It must cost a lot to manufacture or something…

I’ve done very well on a combination of Geodon and Seroquel.
