Seroquel is best…Works nicely at night to cut it up and take 50mg+ to start. Will sleep like baby so no zombie during the day. Few side effects except dry mouth at night from chalky taste.
Did you gain weight?
Risperdone made me gain ~70 pounds in a year. Working on diet now (which I think is more to blame). Still on Risperdone but I only eat 1200 calories and lost 9 pounds 2 weeks
i have been on clozapine for 15 years and have never gained a pound. instead, i am very skinny and am trying to gain some weight.
others that did NOT effect my weight (as far as anti-psychotics go) were Haldol, Abilify, and Seraquil.
the worst offenders were Zyprexa (massive weight gain immediately after i put the first pill in my mouth), Resperidone, and one other i can’t remember.
other meds i take don’t put a pound on me either: Lamictal, Klonipin, Brintellix (a new anti-depressant), and something else i cannot for the life of me remember.
i do watch what i eat very carefully, though, because i am a juvenile diabetic and can’t eat carbohydrate rich foods. but i can go through jar of peanut better in less than a week!!!
I gained almost 30kg or 60lbs on Invega for 7 months. I’m now trying Haldol to see if I lose weight
For me, that would be Invega, Haldol, and Geodon.
Ya I’ve been on olanzapine for 17years and my weight has plateud. It does make you gain weight and will continue to for very long term into overweight or obese but like do says eventually it helps you get back in shape… I’ve heard before some Ad cause weightless but longterm make you pack it back on. AP’s apparently opposite.
Abilify and olanzapine made me gain a ton of weight. Geodon I lost weight on.
I don’t know of Ap that doesn’t make you gain weight. Maybe something first generation but the side effects supposedly make it not worth it.
