What about a book club?

Maybe a book club between us? I’m not sure how it would best work.

That would be cool if I could read.

Wow totally. We can get commitments and then everyone takes turns picking books. We can have like 2 days you can talk about 50 pages…or something. So no spoilers. It could be better than a weekly book club that meets in person cuz we can talk every few chapters. Kind of like a class.

Let’s see how many are up for this - might be good.

This sounds like an excellent idea… but at this point I don’t think I could keep up with it…

I can’t even read books I’ve been given which would totally pertain to me and this situation… one is even written by a vonnegut

That’s a good way of phrasing it… it still works though. CBT is my strongest asset. It’s gotten me this far in my recovery.

There’s a lot of us out of work - so money is short. If you any of you don’t actually have a kindle you can download Kindle for free and there are loads of free books on Amazon.co.uk and Amazon.com.

That’s actually the book :open_book: i’m trucking through right now. A chapter a day will fill my time for this month and probably next month:calendar:.

I would like that!

I am interested now but when given something to read that I’m not interested in I would probably poop out.
I can only read stuff I’m really interested in myself.

I would read the posts with interest and then maybe get interested in reading the book itself.

It does sound like a good idea.

So far that’s 5 or 6 of us who are definitely maybe - let it go another couple of days and see how many others might be in on it xx

OK - so what do we prefer - proper books or e-books. e-books would be easier to download.

Here’s the amazon best seller list - maybe we can take the first ten and put it to the vote which one? I’m new to this.

Or you might want to do one of the classics - there’s loads for free on amazon.

What do you think?

I wanted to recommend The Bridge by Iain Banks

I find it to be very interesting and would love to read it again and discuss it. It was sort of confusing but I think it’d be an interesting book for SZ’s to read.

I’m open to any suggestions but at one point we should have people read this and discuss it…That’s what I was saying about everyone suggesting a book. Usually I buy my books on ebay…they come cheaper there.

On Amazon I’ve just read the sample of The Bridge - it’s well mad lol. I’d never heard of Iain Banks - poor man was only 59 when he died of cancer. I’d never choose this kind of book - BUT - I think it really does you good to get out of your comfort zone and expand your mind in another direction. It definitely held me. So we have The Bridge on the list - so far…

Yeah hopefully we’ll get a nice mix of types of books so we can all explore a little bit… I think you’ll find it really well written.
