I wasn’t aware that the LGBTQ community had subcultures @anon9798425. I’ve heard of pansexual but I don’t know what it means. My dad would kill me if he knew I was talking about this. For me the way I was raised all that is morally wrong but I don’t judge others. I know I’ve stated such b4 in other posts
In other words they’re attracted to any person it doesn’t matter their gender, sex, anything. Except their personality and looks and all that jazz possibly.
It’s a newer term. It would be called bisexual before, but a lot of bisexual people prefer people who are cisgender. That means they express the same gender identity as their biological sex. So pansexual began to be used for people who like others regardless of their gender identity and biological sex. Whether it is a sexual orientation on its own or a variation of bisexuality is up for discussion, I guess. There’s probably not a lot of research on that.
And yes, there are lots of gay and LGBT subcultures! The bear subculture is one of the more popular ones. Then there’s the leather subculture, which is also really popular. Pansexual is not a subculture as far as I know, it’s a sexual orientation/preference.
Didn’t there used to be a thing with handkerchiefs, or am I imaging that?
Thanks for the info on Pansexual. I’m bi and never knew there was an offshoot.
That’s still a thing! But mostly in very particular bars and during Pride events.
Yep! It’s called gay semiotics. Interesting read if you ever get the chance.
Thanks for the info… very interesting.
I learned something new.
My first BF was a big bear and aside from a few personality differences he was an awesome guy. Lol I’m sorta bearish but somehow he thought I belonged in the twinky category. Ya sure dude.

Weight stigma is probably active on any dating website. Gay, heterosexual, bisexual, men and woman. And if I forgot anybody I am sorry. I can’t keep up with all these new terms.
I have no idea what half of you are talking about. No idea what pansexual means. I guess I could google it if I wanted to.
Not only handkerchiefs but lady headbands too. Some like to advertise and some don’t.
You really can’t rely much on the whole male ear piercing thing anymore. At least in my experience.
The short story is that saying you’re bi means you like men and women, while pan is basically the same thing, only it includes people who don’t necessarily identify as men or women.
In other words, all the gender variants.
I agree being fat is unhealthy and unattractive in the eyes of the general population. As discrimination, well obesity has a stigma and a there is a solution that will not only make you look good but also reduce chances of cancers and cardiovascular disease, so lose weight, so killing 2 bird with one stone.
The problem is that most people think the solution is just to lose weight.
For some people, it’s really hard to lose weight. Some people have the experience that no matter what they do it doesn’t work.
A friend of mine got a little overweight last time I saw her, and we talked about it (she brought it up). The problem is that she used to have an eating disorder, so as soon as she starts calorie counting or getting into a diet, the eating disorder starts resurfacing.
And there can be many reasons for being overweight. Medications, eating disorders like binge eating, diabetes, depression, bullying, etc.
I also have a friend who has some issues and got really big because she didn’t care about her diet for many years. Even though she’s lost a lot of weight and is still losing weight, doing everything in her power to do so, she’s still big and people judge her for that.
Well there is a flaw in your argument first of all being over weight is a result of excess calories
Okay so she had to first be stable on her eating disorder and slowly try to lose weight, not fast. While it is true someone can get obsessed in calorie counting and it could be detrimental, but for the general public it is no problem. You are citing experiences not facts. You know medication such a Olanzapine makes you gain 6 lbs, the rest is from eating excess calories. Because Olanzapine slows the metabolism down that means you have to eat and be disciplined about what you eat. So bullying made made her obese not the foods she ate and or binging on? Thats awesome I agree she is doing the most to lose weight and that is admirable, I commend her for that.
People can’t always help that they eat too many calories. Many meds mess with not only the metabolism, but the bloodsugar and the feeling of hunger. I was on a med at one time that made me insanely hungry all the time. If I didn’t eat I almost had an anxiety attack.
And not everyone who is put on antipsychotics are well enough to take on the task of calorie counting and such when they are first put on the drug.
I’m overweight. I was bullied my entire life and had a less than ideal situation at home. The only thing I felt I had control over was eating, and at times it was the only thing that brought me joy.
I still have trouble dieting because due to health conditions I should follow a type 2 diabetes diet. The problem is that it eliminates almost all the foods that brings me joy. And when eating becomes something I do because I have to, not because I want to, I stop eating all together.
So yes, I would rather be overweight and have some people think I’m gross than live a pleasureless life having to watch everything I eat all the time because my hormone imbalance is proven to make weight gain faster and weight loss harder.
Well science supports weight gain is brought on by excessive calories…
Yeah I know I been on 40 mg of olanzapine I did gain 50lbs and was officially obese 295 lbs I’m now down to 240. Well for me I felt the same way, what I did is just go for it and realize I will mess up some days but I keep going soon enoough my body will adjust to my eating habits, which they did.
I agree to some extent, but after a couple of years or months after getting used to your medicine, the doctor themselves will tell you to cut down on your calories
Yeah me too, but eating food is similar to being addicted to drugs, so no matter how much I wanna eat I realize my body is suffering and doesn’t appreciate the extra weight.
My brother had high estrogen and low testosterone… After some times he lost some weight. Due to this medication I have many problems and gaining weight only makes it worse. I do agree the weight you gain is almost impossible to lose with a high dose of aps.
