Wanting to assist mentally ill, but not study

So off and on for years I’ve wanted to so some casual volunteer work kinda stuff. Preferably in the area of helping those with mental health issues like sz, bipolar, depression and panic etc.
The issue is i would prefer to not have to do much/any study beforehand. Is there anything like that that anyone can think of? Maybe a homelessness thing would be the way to go…
And i wanted to ask the folks on here who have noticed me on the forum over the last few years and read some of my comments/threads in the past, about if they think i sound like a good candidate for something like that? This question is partly to get a vibe check for me, and partly trying to put to rest the worry i have that I might not be well liked on the sz forum haha.
Thanks, my sz/sza brethren!

Peer Support Specialists go through a little training but it’s not regular school.

In my country they have something called experience consultant. It basically means that you are a person with self experience, in this case with psychiatric disease. But I think they pretty much have to be well, and good with talking to and understanding people.

Yeah I’m aiming for mental health support worker… in aus. I’ve found it difficult to get volunteer work! Maybe you have the midas touch!

Yeah ive thought about peer support work. There is study involved, but university/college level isn’t required. Hmm. Maybe. I mainly want to volunteer. Peer support is usually a locked in kinda paid position in Australia. And i can be well for 6 months and then be insane for 6 months all of a sudden. I guess i just dont want the pressure to show up sometimes? I dunno haha.

I am kinda finding it funny that no-one has mentioned wether they like me on here or not yet though haha
Im probably overthinking it though. Its just ive been on here almost every day for years. People sometimes seem a bit less friendly with me than others

That’s completely understandable.

I recommend filling out an application to volunteer at a hospital that has a psych ward and stating you’d like to volunteer on the ward

I wasn’t aware you were asking if we like you. I do. I think you try to be considerate and non judgmental

Maybe you’ll get lucky… I hope I said it right, now I’m a little confused. There’s a song “everything you touch turns to gold, I’ve got the Midas touch”
