What’s the best way to go about this?
Advertisers are always printing that someone’s got kittens to give away. Otherwise, the local SPCA. Are you prepared to pay vet bills?
I’d do my best to keep the cat healthy but if it came down to it yeah
There are also neutering and rabies shots.
there’s craigslists, someone is almost always giving away a free cat or kittens. If you want to go the humane way there are shelters, but you pay for the animal that way. That’s how i got my cat milo, had him four years before my dad let him out and he got hurt by a car.
Get a shelter cat or kitten. Save a unwanted life from extermination. Pet shop pets do to much interbreeding also. So best to avoid. . Shelter cats tend to discount on de-sexing so no need to worry on unwanted kittens. Responsible owners do de-sex their pets as enough unwanted pets get destroyed each year as it is.
Biggest decision you will have to make and can be the biggest argument between cat owners. Is inside or outside cat. Outside cats they tend to get more freedom. But more chance of dying or accident.
One of the best places to pick up tips on bounding is cat food websites. Yahoo answers is a pretty good resource also.
Feliway is worth googling. It’s the pheromone of a mother cat. Helpful in training and dealing with behaviour issues. Relaxes the cat also in a new house.
Try to get a cat that fits you personally.
If you are inside everyday get a indoor cat to hang with you.
If you work daily or have responsibilities that keep you away from home for hours daily and are comfortable with letting your cat outside then a outdoor breed might be the best.
Keep in mind when you put a cat outside it will bring back whatever it’s been into (fleas, tics etc.)
Yes get the kitty cat from a shelter or a natural litter. I got my kitty from a family friends litter, she’s 16 and never been sick just checkups at the vet
Ask around friends/family etc. I recieved mine as a birthday gift 18-19 yrs ago from my aunt and she has since payed for herself .
Just be aware that cats are a big lifetime responsibility. They live up to 20 years and they need lots of understanding. They mark their territory with urine and if you don’t keep their box clean they will crap in your shoes. you may even be allergic to them, they need regular check ups and quality food to avoid All kinds of nasty circumstances.
I would love to have my own pet. Maybe in future I will get a cat.
I have two cats and two dogs! Well technically one cat is mine and one dog is mine. The others are female and don’t seem to like me as much as my mom and sister.
I adopted the dog and I adopted the cat. It was like 50 bucks for twin kittens, one boy one girl.
Here is my pimpin’ big cat
He has thumbs
The one that gets close to you.
Come on over to my house to pick a kitty you want.
I have 5 strictly indoor cats- one is 17 years old, 4(siblings) are 5 years old, and one new addition-an 8 week old kitten I found tossed out onto the street-literally.
Then outside kitties are a momma and her: 1 year old + 4 8 week old kittens.
All the outside kitties are up for anyone wanting them, just need food and water, although they like being petted too.
