There is this really pitiful cat that I am debating with myself if I should take careof. I’ve already got one cat. I don’t need any more. But a few days ago this one was out in the hallway yowling pitifully because she was hungry. It kind of hurt me to hear that. The woman next door took her in for a few days, but then earlier today she said when she walked into her room she was hit by a horrible smell that came from her cat. She put the cat back out in the alley. I’m thinking that maybe the cat was pregnant and had a litter of kittens that was born dead. I’m fairly sure it would be her first pregnancy. When I visited Shelly, the woman next door, the young cat felt like she was in the late stages of starvation when I petted her. Her bones really stuck out. She got some good food from Shelly, so when I petted her this afternoon her bones didn’t protrude as much. The cat I’ve got is a male cat, and I’m trying to figure out how I can get him neutered. In the meantime I have to keep him away from this cat.
That’s heartbreaking, I hate to see animals suffer. I hope it all turns out for the best.
For getting him neutered, you could see if there are any shelters or animal related charities that offer veterinary services in your area for a discount. Otherwise, I’d say keeping them separate from each other (if you decide to adopt the cat) is a good idea. Keep her in a comfortable space with enough room and privacy, and let the other cat eat near the other one so that it comes to associate the other cat’s scent with good food.
It’s probably not a good idea to let them mingle right off the bat. Cats are territorial, and he may see this as an invasion of his territory.

Some of the universities offer cheap desexing. May be an option for the lad…gawd If I had some decent money I’d be the crazy cat man…i’d be recuing a lot of cats! I like people who like cats!
