How do you deal with dreams that are so vivid and scary that it wakes you up all the time?
I am barely getting enough sleep because of this.
I gave up at 3am. I went to sleep at 10pm, woke at 12am and then had this problem till 3am before I gave up and got up to listen to music.
I have work today, and I am going to be very tired today.

If this is a regular thing for you, talk to your pdoc about starting propranolol or something to help you sleep. It’s a blood pressure meds, but it helps with anxiety symptoms that you get from nightmares. It keeps your body from freaking out. Really helps some people.

Thanks @LED
I have been trying to get a doctors appointment but my old pdoc retired in October, and his replacement leaves this month who I never got to see.
I have to wait until the end of this month for the new doctors to start so they can assign me to someone and book an appointment.
It’s really frustrating. I was supposed to have follow up 8 weeks after I started Sertraline in October

Can you get in to see your PCP? They may be willing to give it to you as a trial.

They’re useless when it comes to psych issues. They always tell me no to anything I ask as it’s up to the Psychiatrist.

Lame. Sorry that’s not an option for you. Hopefully they get you scheduled soon. After the new meds they prescribed working well? Since you didn’t get to go to the follow up. Are you still taking them?

I still take them.
I was in a really bad spiral before I started them, and they seem to have taken me up enough to be content.
I am only on a low dose of 50mg.
The psychiatrist who retired I really trusted as I had first seen him 16 years ago.
He said Sertraline also works on anxiety, but I still get that bad but the low mood has gotten better

I’m glad it’s starting to help. Hopefully whenever you can get in to see the new doctor they will be able to help you in a productive way and aren’t awful.

I spoke to the out of hours helpline.
I tried to explain to them that this is urgent for me as I need to be able to sleep without anxiety waking me up all the time. I told them I need to see someone so they sent an email.
This cannot continue.

I thought I’d give it a go and he upped the Sertraline from 50mg to 100mg and gave me some Zopiclone
He said he has done all he’s allowed to do. I hope it helps.
I also have to take a few days off work

I appreciate your suggestion. I had discounted seeing the family doctor but he helped as much as he could
Mental health services won’t have enough doctors until March
