@Pikasaur being in pain won’t help anybody. It can feel good in the moment to punish yourself, but punishment isn’t good for anybody. Even people who have done something wrong. Punishment doesn’t teach people not to do something anymore. It just teaches them to hate themselves and believe they’re worth less because of their actions. Your value as a person isn’t dependent on your actions. You’re a valuable person because you’re a person, and people shouldn’t be hurt on purpose.
