Voices are telling me to cut my eye out

What should I do? Yes I’m on medication.

Sounds like average schizo stuff.

If you are worried that you might I would seek medical attention immediately as that means you’re in crisis. What supports do you have to reach out to? There may be resources here that can help you as well:

I would go to the hospital and tell them what is going on. You need attention and care right now.

Don’t cut your eye out. Or harm yourself in any way. I’ve never heard voices myself but I know they lie and say all kinds of crap that is wrong or negative or should not be acted upon. Other people are right, if you’re in crisis then tell someone you know and maybe either get to a hospital or sleep it off or distract yourself by listening to music or watching positive YouTube videos or doing something else. You do not have to follow what the voices say. They will just lie or try to fool you or trip you up.

I never did what my voices told me to do because I don’t like being told what to do.

When they would tell me to do something I wouldn’t do it, or I would do the opposite to spite them.

Why do you feel the need to do what the voices are saying? I never understood that with anyone that hears voices.

How are you doing @TheIdlerWheel? Have the urges subsided? If not, have you sought help?

I don’t do drugs or drink, but thanks for your input

I don’t “feel the need”. I’m not GOING to cut out anything. Why would I do that? The point has been missed. They are just persistent and much louder than normal. I can’t really talk to my family about it because they don’t get it. I just wanted to share with people who actually might understand.

Thanks everyone for all your input. I just didn’t want to feel so alone and struggled with whether or not to call the hospital. I appreciate everyone’s two cents.
I took my anxiety medicine and went to sleep for a while. Things are quieter now and I believe I can wait to talk to my pdoc rather than enter as crisis.

Sorry for any confusion, but text is a limited medium so it’s really hard to gauge the level of intent of the original poster. Sometimes people are quite serious with posts of this nature, thus the concern. Really glad to hear you’re able to deal with the voices on this and also happy to hear you’re discussing it with the pdoc. Hope you get some relief soon.

Thank you. I mean I was very serious, but I definitely could have worded better or included more context. My mind was not quite straight enough. But truly thank you.

just to clarify, in drug and alcohol recovery, rehab, they had us watch a video of a guy who was convinced to cut his hand off.

your post made me think of this.

My voices gave me visuals to cut my head off.

What do you mean by visuals?

I had a vision in my head with my head cut off. I think the voices were supporting that vision. When I hear voices I get corresponding visions in my head.

I don’t think I’m sz though.

I’m glad to hear you don’t feel the need to do that, but many schizophrenics do what the voices tell them and sometimes it doesn’t turn out too well. Your original post gave me the impression you were considering it. I was stating I never understood the need to do what the voices say.

As to why you would do it, I don’t know, here is a story about a schizophrenic that heard “the voice of god” and chopped off someones head on a bus. There are a lot of stories about schizophrenics doing what the voices say.

This guy is dangerous and should continue to be monitored from his apartment.
