Vet tomorrow

So in the last year, my dog went from weighing 11 pounds to weighing 10 pounds. He’s a very small dog with fine bones.

Anyway, he’s not eating very much and I have to prepare human foods for him like chicken, turkey, lean beef, egg, fish… along with fruits, veggies, sweet potatoes etc. This was approved by the vet to encourage him to eat.

I’m concerned he’s unwell. He’s old (almost 15). So it could be anything. I’m worried and nervous

I’m sorry @anon92321969 but start preparing yourself, he is 15 years old after all
Hopefully he’ll be fine.
Do you add certain vitamins or supplements to his food?
My dog has food allergies and I was thinking about preparing homemade meals for him too
My dog has an upcoming Vet appointment as well

I don’t give him any vitamins but I follow recipes (including when they say to put liver in it and stuff like that) for dogs complete nutrition.

It might not be perfect but I think at his age, as long as it keeps him eating, that’s what matters. I prepare batches of food at a time and freeze portions for later.

@Wave
I’m so glad I have an appointment for my dog today. He’s now having blood in his stool :frowning: He’s fully vaccinated and has never been around dogs outside of our home (we have 2 dogs and they don’t come in contact with other dogs). So I know it’s not a contagious disease. But I’m very concerned now. My poor baby.

You are being a responsible dog owner by taking him to the vet

Thanks @Wave . The other dog belongs to my adult daughter. She pays for everything for her dog.

That said, unless my financial situation changes, I won’t be getting another pet. I can’t afford dental cleanings or vet bills, except for annual checkups and vaccines. Thats not enough,

Yes I know what you mean
I pay a fortune on my dog and cats vet bills!
