Vegetarianism and SZ

This is just a question for discussion not a suggestion for treating sz.

When I was vegetarian I had little to no psychotic symptoms. My weight was around 160 lbs which went up to 200lbs when I started eating meat. So I think I was starving myself of protein a little. I read that dopamine is created in the body from the breakdown of an amino acid -L-tyrosine-. Could it be possible with a diet with less protein there is less of the amino acid that gets turned into dopamine therefore less dopamine? Thoughts?

Pure vegan actually mitigates symptoms, as long as you avoid gluten. So does keto, I found.

Anyhow, I am omnivorous now, but I avoid a few things. Bread and soda. Rest seems OK. Treating myself with niacin / vitamin c, and lots of praying. Actually have to move house now because apparently it triggers massive stress in my brain (found out through numerous tests.)

When I’m out, I have to avoid all sugary foods because walking exhausts my brain and that little bit of sugar can screw up my mental frame. Better to just drink water.

I went vegan for a year, prior to 2 years vegetarian.

Sadly it done nothing for my schizophrenia.

I was vegan for a few months. It didn’t do s–t for my mental health or my physical health.

And actual vegan. Like vegetables 99% of the time. No garbage vegan food.

Just wondering. I’m not sure sz is too much dopamine or the dopamine is just disregulated in general. Too much sometimes too little at other times. I had a flight into health ,as its sometimes called , although I dont like the term, and didnt have symptoms for a few years.

Second Off: No More Meat Products. (Which Is Good For You).

And Third Off: No More Bitter Lenses Of Odd Behavior And Destruction.

Which Is Also Good For The Environment.

I have been vegetarian for over 7 years. It has had zero effect on my symptoms, as far as I can tell.

I will say, maintaining a healthy diet, routine, and exercise schedule does help me with my sleep, which in turn helps with symptoms. But it does not do enough on its own to keep me healthy. It’s kind of like, the medicine is the life jacket that keeps me on top of the water. The healthy routines are me actively swimming so I don’t just stay bobbing in one place forever. Without the meds, I would eventually get tired and drown. But without the routines, I would never actually move forward in my life.

Funny you say that. I’ve switched to 90% vegetarian food and my appetite has gone way down.

I’m calorie counting and I’m finding it difficult to stuff my face to reach my daily calorie goal. Whereas previously I’d have found it difficult not to go over my daily calorie goal.
