Why do the nurses and staff at these places act horrible but nice to family on the phone? Why do they laugh and mock patients openly (atleast in my case) and threaten strong medications if you show the slightest distress. I never want to step foot back in one no matter how bad i get. I had a cafeteria worker even scream at me then lowkey threaten (“have a good night” with a purpose malicious smirk knowing i have paranoia). Has anyone had a good experience at these place
I’ve seen that.
I’ve been to hospital on many occasions, and I had good and bad experiences.
I was twice in the hospital already years ago and didn’t like it on both occasions.
I’m not planning to go back.
I don’t know about the threatening and the smirk from this nurse. It’s possible that what you say is true, but it’s also possible that you interpit things the wrong way which is very common for people like us.
They’re really mean by me too. I’ve been to every hospital in my area and they were awful. Stone cold sociopaths in my opinion. I’m sorry you had that experience too
I had a terrible experience at the last psychiatric hospital in 2016.
It was run down and infested with rats.
The staff were a bunch of sociopaths
There was only one staff worker and doctor that were nice.
My social worker was nice too but everyone else were horrible people.
I was gaslit and abused while I was there.
The food was pretty good also.
If I can help it I’m never going back there again
I worked as a psych nurse in the past and was even planning to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Many reasons I did not continue this route and one of them had to do with the quality of care patients received in an inpatient setting.
People who work in psychiatry, are classicaly rude towards patients.
I was in 2014 for a month on my demand, and noticed that.
I think it’s bc they didn’t expect to deal with “crazy” people when they were asking for job.
One and fitst sign I entered wrong hospital was their behavior.
They loaded the note book with my complaines and things I pointed they are wrong in two days.
One nurse just said, oh you gonna see what will happen when drs arive.
Any way, I think they collected too many fears from aggressive patients, so they pool sh** on normal and kind.
All of my hospital experiences sucked. They weren’t mean, but I was bored out of my mind. Nothing to do.
My hospital experiences were largely pleasant actually. Good staff ok food nice other patients and feeling safe . I was scared but that stuff helped
Some people can be rude, but never was that bad. Things are probably more corrupt now.
I go to the VA and have had nothing but good experiences.
Yesh, I’ve also had nothing but good experience with VA clinics/hospitals. They recently build a full-on VA Medical Center where I live, and it is stellar.
I’ve only been inpatient one time back in 2009. They had me stay over just one night. They were nice, though. Very attentive. I think they made sure it wasn’t appendicitis and accurately diagnosed Aortic Abdominal Aneurysm. I didn’t have my meds, so they supplied me. They also had a running injection of Zofran for several hours and it felt good and felt greater the next day.
