Unexpected sleep aid?

I’ve been having a problem sleeping through the night. I seem to always wake after having only about 4 hours of sleep. I then pick up a few more hours of sleep during day time naps if the situation allows for it. If I don’t get naps I still only sleep about 4 hours at night.

I tried trazadone, it didn’t work and gave me headaches. I tried melatonin, it didn’t work and gave me headaches and depressed me. I tried ambien and it didn’t work and gave me one hell of a bad mood to contend with.

So night before last I drank a cup of coffee before bed and I slept through the night. I thought it was a coincidence but last night I woke up in the middle of the night and I made a cup of coffee and it put me back to sleep and I slept till morning. Is this a coincidence?

I know caffeine has the opposite effect on people with ADHD. Does it effect other people differently too? I didn’t find much about it on a goolge search. I did see something about it effecting dopamine, could that have something to do with it? Anybody else fall asleep from coffee?

Sometimes coffee will make me very tired. Could remember an occasion I drank a glass or two of wine with dinner. And then I drank a cup of coffee and fell asleep on the rug right away. The coffee had an opposite effect that time and other times too. But rare for this to happen. Maybe it’s a coincidence I dunno. I wouldn’t expect coffee to put you to sleep but strangest things have happened I guess I would have never figured

Caffeine crash can make you tired. Also having something warm can make you sleepy. Do you put milk or cream in your coffee? That can make you sleepy. A lot of people get knocked out by a cup of warm milk.

I’m gonna try it again tonight just to see if it’s replicable. I hope so because I could sure use the uninterrupted sleep. It’s so much more restorative.
