Great
You just gave me another paranoia as I’m taking that medication for 10 years now
Sorry I was upset with it to. But we need to decide for ourselves whether the part of the article that describes the clinical need is in fact in our best interests being the patients
Lots of ppl are stuck on it as it was the only med that worked
I’m getting off it slowly anyways…or at least trying to get an efficient minimal dose
I don’t want to scare you but Clozapine is ranked as the world’s 5. Most dangerous meds ever made I saw on you tube.
But in regards of effect it’s used as last resort when non of the standard antipsychotics works.
Well I have found a sweet spot in regard to antipsychotics were I don’t have any positive symptoms namely 500 mgs Zuclopenthixol depot every 3 weeks and 500 mgs Qutiapine by mouth once dayly
I know a few people who take it & one says its like the gold standard, i was almost given it but luckily my gf at the time stopped them as she knew my wishes. (i don’t like blood tests)
That is scary.
I was almost started on it. Not as last resort, but as a second try, because my doc fancied that med. He said it was less emotionally blunting. He never warned me of the dangers. I’m happy I didn’t do it. But as a last resort, if nothing helps… I can imagine people use it. Just think docs should be real careful with it…I don’t think they are alert enough to physical issues in sz patients.
That’s scary. I’m not on it but is the clozapine over in the U.K. the same type of clozapine that’s prescribed here, do you know? Why hasn’t this been published before in the U.S.?
It’s the same I believe
The brand is Denzapine (think I spelt it right)
Luckily I only take a low dose. I hope it won’t result in a premature death.
I am on 400mg and they want it to go up
Had a serum test and they think the levels in my blood are not high enough
Don’t know what to do
Do you have any side-effects?
I was on 200 mg and experienced dizziness and tachycardia. I went to a cardiologist and she asked to my doc to lower my dose.
If I hadn’t seen that cardiologist it wouldn’t have happened as my then pdoc didn’t listen to me.
I had bad constipation for a long time
They doubled the dose of Senna and that has worked
My concern is I don’t want to be doped up as I have a good balance with work right now
This kinda â– â– â– â– always happens
Don’t think they know when to stop pushing the dose higher
I would say that at the current dose you’re able to work but if they increase it you might have to go back on disability.
Let the money talk
Once again I backed myself into a corner by moving
But I had to
Could not stand the stress of the apartment complex I lived at before
Now the cost of my home is double but would have gone up by a third if I had stayed put
Plus the loan was stretched to beyond pension age to 73 years old
If I went back on benefits I could not keep my home
All my savings pretty much paid the fees to move
But I will die here
It’s very peaceful
No busy road, college kids walking past, no druggies, no violence etc
Why do they want to raise the clozapine anyway, is it actually necessary? I’m guessing they have a reason. No worries if it’s private reason.
I have no idea
It’s something to do with clozapine and nor clozapine
They did tell me the numbers but I can’t remember what they were
Symptoms are not treated properly so I guess that might be why?
Congratulations on the house move
Thank you
I was at the old place for nearly 8 years
Was long overdue
I wouldn’t increase the dose if you get by fine with work and everything, you could argument that a higher dose could risk your ability to work.
Doctors might have some theoretical ideas about optimal dose and what is subclinical and what not, but in practice things are different. No need to mess with the dose if you feel ok on it.
