UK is bad for mental health

I called the mental health team who said they only deal with routine queries and I should call 111. I decided to call the crisis line instead who passed me back to my mental health team. I was then advised to call 111 again so I did. 111 advised me to call my GP to get a referral to the mental health team. UK system is worse.

I’ve heard many complaints about the UK system on this forum. But it’s free, what do you expect.

Not exactly free it comes out of the taxpayers money. But I kinda agree.

Averaged out, each household in the UK pays £10,000 a year towards the NHS

Then you’re being ripped off. I’m sorry to say.

I might consider going private but I don’t think they can do much about my condition. It’s up to me to manage it.

Yep. All those people who’re waiting for procedures totals about 6-8 million on waiting lists depending on where you look. Don’t even mention mental health services!

I looked into it, and you won’t get NHS prescriptions - you would have to pay the market price for the drugs you get, which is a lot in some cases and less in others

With other things at least you have some say in which hospital you can go. If it’s about mi they don’t give options. You’re stuck.

In canada mental health services are good but tough to get into. And you need to earn < 45k to qualify for free meds.

I think the system is really good. But for some reason it is under immense pressure these days. Perhaps because of an exponential increase in ill ppl

I kind of expect to get access to the medical services I’m paying high high taxes for.

(Sorry, you said something about free?)

I heard Truss say she is going to get healthcare on its feet. A good promise. Lets hope it materializes.

It will take at least a decade if not more for them to build enough hospitals and get enough skilled staff to fix this

She will be gone in 2 years
