UBI Universal Basic Income

So tired of not having an income. But I’m not the only one who fell through the cracks. Covid19 has shed a huge spotlight on already rampant issues in the US. From police brutality to the voiceless finding a voice. I believe UBI is the only thing that will save the US from a second Great Depression. You wanna work? Great. But UBI would end the welfare class gap, give opportunities to those left out, prevent crime/homelessness/addiction/mental illness/suicide and solve them before its too late. I propose $10,000 a month to all but something like that at least should get the ball rolling because it’s about freedom to all not the top not the bottom, we gotta bridge the gap between the two. If people can’t let go of their freaking power holds we’re all gonna start hurting a heck of a lot more. UBI will save the USA. If I had it I would buy a car, finish my certificate and start working a heck of a lot sooner than waiting for this trickle down economy to work for me. And honestly it’s not working at all for anyone. Maybe just a few people.

I would love to get paid to spend all day walking around with my cameras. Enough that I could maintain a quality standard of life while doing so.

That’s never going to happen.

If it did, inflation would guarantee you’d need $30,000 a month to survive on. The downside of economics.

Hey you gotta bargain with me. Maybe not $10,000 which would be ideal. When the stimulus checks came all people did was spend them on bills and buy stuff. It would also help the economy and we could transform it to work better with less waste/abuse of money.

You mean 120 000$US a year just for disability?
That’s a never happening dream. That’s a pharmacist’s salary here.

Yeah we could get 10000 a month. Then a bag of apples will cost 500 bucks

The classic definition of inflation is to much money chasing to few goods. However, we do have the ability to produce almost anything we want with very little effort. We could meet the supply side of the equation. There are still a lot of things to negotiate to make it work, though.

I just wanted to get people thinking about it. If you have a higher demand for supplies, that will increase the need for jobs/production and create new jobs…and maybe 10,000 is unrealistic right now but the idea is to generate wealth and keep it flowing/that’s how you get rich.

Well, maybe in the far, far future, we can have Star Trek Replicators where we can have a machine or box produce goods for us. I’m not sure how the economy would work then. It’s pretty fantastical and too complex for me.

The problem is if we give everyone ‘comfortable money’ then no one will want to do the undesirable jobs.

The real problem is that welfare/social programs and disability do nothing to generate NEW WEALTH. If we inject the economy with work incentive and new money will generate new wealth and it starts by reaching those at the bottom. Think of the stimulus checks. They did work but just weren’t enough to reach everyone and really make a positive impact.

Exactly, 120 000$ is a yearly pharmacist’s salary, why would he study and pay tuition for 6 years if he can get it for free? Ppl won’t work anymore.

Dude I was just thinking about that.

Amazon should make an Amazon print branch.
You rent a 3d printer with your subscription. Then you just print there basic products.

One day that could happen.

It’s called the invisible hand. What you’re talking about would destroy the economy.

I’m no UBI expert, but Andrew Yang and others have suggested $1000 a month for every person in the USA.

I’m not trying to be an ass or anything.

It sounds like you took an economics course, but you would know that that type of stuff leads to shortages and other worse things and even leads to Socialism, which some people may or may not like.

Personally, I think the current power structure would never let this happen. I think we live in a pyramid type society (elite on top) and I’m okay with that. For sure it can be improved a lot.

America is a Capitalist society, if you could work and make a million dollars would you? Or would you sit around all day. My point is to ELIMINATE POVERTY which generates wealth. Just an idea I’ve been thinking about and how it would help people. And if I had it yes I would work, I don’t like doing nothing. I just applied to tech. school and plan to start working soon.

Well the government could give you x dollars if you do y work.
Heeeey that sounds like a job :yum:

yes Pyramid. More like monopoly on progress. People at the top/hold the wealth and control who gets it, waste trillions on drone strikes and can’t educate the masses.

Humans have a motivation to money, you can’t stop that.

Give me enough UBI to keep me happy and I’m never doing a day of work at a job again. I’m sure the majority of people feel the same.
