Ive just cancelled by TV license - and my god what a load of arrogant arseholes they are.
Threatened me with a fine before i opened my gob! Ive only had it for 4 months - but the direct debit i was paying could be easier spent on prime and netflix. No doubt i will have some TVL Goon round in the near future to check.
Its an outdated money grabbing scheme by the BBC anyway and im not forking out for it anymore. Im even gonna take the aerial socket off the wall and replace it with a blanking plate in case they want to check. (Not that you have to - they work for a private company so you can refuse access).
According to sources - theyve lost well over a million accounts in the last two years anyway. And im not surprised with the garbage they chuck out.
I find its taking the mick with us in the Uk - when you lot in the Good Ol’ US of A can watch BBC news with no problem.

You only have to youtube tv licensing to see what tricks they get upto. Your perfectly with your right to cancel it. They are notorious for under-hand tactics and their fake detector vans. I honestly dont watch live tv anyway. ÂŁ30 quid a month? - That lot are having a laugh, that will pay for my Streaming subscriptions instead. Do yourself a favour and cancel yours as well mate - if your not using it.
I totally agree. I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of months now, but have been worried about them threatening me and sending the goons round. It’s worth saving the money though as I honestly never watch the BBC or IPlayer anyway. I’ll have a look at their tricks on YouTube!
I wouldnt worry about it. The best thing you can do is just close the door in their face. They have no power of entry as they work for a private company. Its those scare tactics they use - that make you cough up in the first place. They all work on a commision to get at least 25 “nickings” a week. Just dont answer the door mate. Go and look on youtube. Save yourself some cash.
Yeah will do. They said i have a no licence needed declaration for 2 years. That wont stop the goons turning up tho. Like i said - although i dont have too - i will show them ive disconnected the aerial cable in the wall. They are sneaky bastards tho. I might just leave a clinic letter nearby with my diagnosis of Sz and a baseball bat by the door - and let their imaganation do the rest. 30quid a month is alot of bloody money for when i spend less then 10mins in the morning just watching the news of the day.
Funnily enough I went TVL free about 12 years ago as my ariel didn’t work and I wasn’t able to watch TV for about a year. I just got used to it and liked it in the end even though people thought I was being kind of weird.
I called them and told them that I wanted to stop my license because I didn’t watch any TV and they seemed to find that very difficult to comprehend. They said that they would need to send someone round and I told them that I was under no legal obligation to prove it and that there were weird people like me who didn’t watch TV and not to bother. I never got any letters or visits.
I hear you. I only had my TVL for about 4 months. Tho if you want to be sneaky get a VPN like Nord that accepts streaming live and then they wont have a bloody clue anyway.
