TV can know my mind

Does anyone else ever get the feeling that people on tv are reading their minds and judging you? Everytime I watch TV I feel like the people on it are in a mental interaction with me. I can’t watch TV anymore unless it’s cartoons.

Anybody know how to beat this?

Get a clear idea of the workings of the tv, so that you know it is impossible. The tv just makes images and sound.

I have that problem on and off with believing youtube videos are speaking directly to me. It happens within hours of slipping off my treatment plan.

When that happens I avoid youtube for a few days until I can get my brain working again.

I’ve had that to a small extent. Also had the feeling where I could influence the people on the screen, especially on live television or online livestreams.

Just maybe if you exposed yourself enough, it would fade.

I hear low whispers and other ■■■■. How long has it been going on? I hope they go away for you. Hugs

I thought the background noise was talking about me and they were watching me. So yeah I get it. Meds helped mine

That normally only happens to me when I’m really ill.

Are you taking all your meds? (Sorry I had to ask)

It’s been going on since 2021. It was really bad back in the day but now I just watch cartoons.

I feel like I’m missing out on Soo many good shows and I get my feelings hurt Everytime I see a person on tv. I know it’s crazy. Anyways…I have to find a way to face it

My initial psychotic break had bits of this where I thought people were talking to me.

The meds and therapy made it go away.

I suggest going to a public place and see if this persists.

If it does, U might need a med change.

Hope this helps.

No, this only happened in the first few years. Nothing like this anymore.

Like watch TV while in public? I never tried that. I probably just need a med change

No no, I meant just go out in public and be around people and see if it happens.

My bad lol.

I recommend you talk to your doctor.

Yup, ive had that too. Its got better over the years though. What helped me was rationalizing that it was impossible. Now i can watch people talking on youtube, but i still kind of believe it, but can brush it off.

Oh yea… It happens in public too. I was thinking you were saying if I watched in public I might be able to differentiate between real people and delusions lol

I’ve had this before. I think it’s called “thought broadcasting”. I also believed my neighbors could communicate with me in my mind, and just people I knew in general.

For me it got better with time and meds, but I understand it causes a lot of anxiety and doubt when you have it.

Hopefully things get better for you as well. Good luck

I sometimes hit the mute and pretend the newscasters suddenly turned into a pair of monkeys doing exactly what they were before, with just as much seriousness, and suddenly I get the point of watching TV: monkeys clowning around for the benefit of being taken seriously.

  • The mute button and a little imagination makes everything better. Almost as bad as Hollywood.

People on news shows do something called predictive programming, where they spin narratives in order to get people to accept future events with less recoil. Not surprised if it causes people mental distress. Once again, see the point above.
