Trolls....don't they anything better to do?

People who try to get on this forum using a false identity or just try to cause chaos for no reason mystify me. I don’t understand their thinking.

This thought came to my mind because I was looking at past history of rejected posts.

I mean how bored do you have to be to, for example, to disrupt a schizophrenia recovery forum with conspiracy theories about the Covid vaccines? This forum has almost nothing to do with vaccines and yet this has been a frequent occurrence for years.

I could give more examples of completely unnecessary trolling, but I’m not going to.

Don’t people have anything better to do? I mean, seriously, get some kind of life. Take up a REAL hobby…something.

That is because a few years on reddit and 4chan one post got to the top of the charts how to scare SZs: saying that one specific car is following us.

I don’t get a lot of comments on my Instagram posts, which is fine. I post a selfie of myself waiting in a hospital wearing a mask and I’m suddenly swarmed by a crowd demanding I “take that diaper” off my face.

In my experience, trolls fall into a few subcategories:

  • teenagers who are mimicking behavior they see without thinking about how it actually affects people
  • a person with a very specific grudge who is now dedicating hours per week to making multiple accounts just to harass someone and make it look like they are multiple people
  • people who are relieving stress in a way that has no major consequences for their own social lives, without thinking about how it affects others
  • people who are so out of touch with reality that they believe themselves to be on a mission to spread the Ultimate Truth, who believe anyone who tells them to stop is trying to oppress them to cover up the Ultimate Truth (or too stupid to understand their genius).

Yea the movement against masks was always strong here too, and it has gained traction after most restriction were lifted. Now I get funny looks if I use a mask (even in public transports, which are often crowded).

Oh and trolling, I’ve never understood the appeal in that.

I once got my hands on the email address of one of my ex-girlfriend’s later crushes and I spammed him for a while, but otherwise I’m clean, I swear to God, officer!

Well I’m on disability and have plenty of time. I’m just glad there is a place to interact with peers.

There’s still a lot of stigma on sz outside of this forum.

Thank god for this place, when I’m too stressed and tired to deal with any thing or anybody but I don’t want to be alone I have here. Sometimes it drives me nuts, but sometimes it saves me.

Uh, he keeps telling everyone how recovered he is and then posts some wild stuff showing that he’s far from it. Probably not the best example to use.
