Hi all, i tried switching to caplyta today, but my paychiatrist told me its not available in canada. I was surprised because on the internet i swear it says caplyta is approved. I guess im a call health canada or something.and ask about if caplyta is approvedm anyone know anything about this
They put some Caplyta in my med cup without my knowledge. I didn’t know I was taking it for a while. So far, I don’t notice much of an effect. I think I have been on Caplyta for about two or three months.
It took my doctor months to get Caplyta approved for me. I was at my worst, though, and had already stop taking meds, so I never started it. I’ve been trying to get a migraine nasal spray approved for years. I don’t know why it’s not being approved. They approve meds for TD, which cost as much as buying a car each month or a house each year, but they won’t spring for the migraine med which is a little over $1k. Ridiculous.
I hope you can figure out a way to get what you need. Insurance sucks.
What’s so special about Caplyta?
It’s a new AP. There’s nothing really special about it from what I’ve seen, seems like another dopamine modulator. It’s supposedly an AD too, but I guess we’ll see. They claim that about a lot of other APs.
Stands for what AD?
Antidepressant. This medication specifically mentions it helps bipolar depression.
Yeah so caplyta binds to dopamine receptors nore weakly then other antipsychotics. So i thought it would be better.
I can’t find chart on how well new AP are for weight gain
I tried caplyta for a very short while six months after release. Insurance didn’t want to pay for it, and I didn’t want to bother with samples all the time.
It’s not in the Health Canada database of approved drugs so it’s not available in Canada yet.
Here in the USA it’s available, but extremely expensive for people like me whii aren’t on Medicaid. My pdoc wants me on it because it’s better for diabetes. I also think it doesn’t have sexual side effects as well.
What my pdoc said is good about caplyta is it regulates dopamine both ways if we have too much or too little it will adjust. It also has neural plasticity as a benefit which helps our brains make new connections and continue to grow. Sorry that you cant get it in canada i hope that changes for you soon.
It doesnt have sexual side effects im back to normal after 5 years on invega
