Thyroid hormone and depression

Anyone on here ever take a thyroid hormone for depression?
T4 I believe its called.
If so what was your experience like?

I have hypothyroid which can contribute to depression. I have been RX a med called levothyroxine which I have been taking for about 2 1/2 months. I am only noticing a subtle difference in depression and energy levels so far. It takes quite awhile for the med to make a difference and my dose is still being adjusted.

So it’s not really that helpful basically?

Does it help with weight loss?

It supposedly helps with energy, depression and weight loss. My dose is still being adjusted as my blood work isn’t showing a change yet. Once you are on the right dose, it is supposed to help with all the above. I get my blood drawn every 6 weeks. They start you on the lowest dose and slowly go up from there because it can be hard on your heart to go too fast. I have had the dose upped once so far. Not sure what my working dose will be

Thanks, I hope it works. I’m going on it for depression. Just had the blood work done. The antidepressant isn’t working fast enough.

Oh, I didn’t know they prescribed it just for depression. I hope it helps you. I actually have hypothyroid. Perhaps in the process of treating it, I will lose some weight, have more energy and be less depressed. Good luck to us!
