Thyroid medication

My thyroid tests came out, and TSH levels are up.

Now I am on a thyroid medication.

Anyone have experience with this? Was there any benefit to taking thyroid medication?

I was told by a medical student hypothyroid slows the body down and leads to depression.

I have not noticed any difference since starting on levothyroxine 25mcg many years ago- the lowest dose.

Don’t forget it will be a medication for life like your anti-psychotics.

I take thyroid meds…have for decades…doesn’t depress me…I was emotional and moody when before I started the meds.

I’m on synthroid, too…ever since lithium destroyed my thyroid when i was 16. I take 75 mcg…i used to take 125 mcg but it’s gone down since losing weight. At least it’s a cheap med.

I was on 125 they moved me down to 112mcg

According to chat gpt, all the things I am experiencing, are because of high TSH levels. My T3 and T4 levels are normal.

I was getting strange anxiety-psychosis stranglehold for like 6-7 hours once or twice a week (let’s call them panic attacks).

Chat gpt says, it is probably because of the thyroid levels, as imbalance in thyroid levels increases cortisol, anxiety, and thereby could be causing these attacks.

If your thyroid is originally high, it could cause psychosis…then you might just need the thyroid medicine instead of antipsychotics

I’ve had anxiety even before I was diagnosed as having hypothyroidism.
